So I was trying to get a fan fret Regius 8 with a Regius Pepper top when this one came on the market at a great price. Y'all probably seen this one from NAMM...

Here is how the original owner spec'ed it out:
    -V Frets 25.5"-27"Multiscale 8 option
    -Black Limba body chambered
-Zebrano top handpicked by Mayones owner
-11 piece wenge, maple, mahogany, padouk neck
    -Birdseye Maple fretboard
    -20" fretboard radius
-Offset on treble side Abalone inlays
    -Jumbo Stainless frets
-Luminlay glow in dark side dots
-Curly maple hybrid binding on entire guitar
-Custom ordered BKP slanted Aftermath/VHII pickups
    -Custom made Zebrano Volume knob
-Custom volume placement, 3 way toggle switch
-Natural matte oiled finish, back body trans matte black natural
    -Thinner flatter neck profile

Brothers...or Sisters depending on how you look at it

This is my first venture into guitars with this high craftsmanship and I'm entirely impressed. I checked every spot and pore on this and there is not one fault. Guitar was tuned and setup perfect straight from the case. Very well built but there are a few things that bother me (probably just me).

Since the controls are recessed I find it a lil difficult to pull on the push-pull vol knob so I think it would be better with a push-push. I'll probably wire that in someday, but it's most definitely not a deal breaker.

Then there's the bridge pickup placement. The slanted pickups are parallel to each other which makes the body curves/design flow nicely. For me I feel like the bass side could be slanted a wee bit more towards the bridge for more clarity, but I honestly haven't had a good day off to turn the amp up to 11/tinker with pickup height/change 8th string gauge to make a clear conclusion.

This is also my first fan fret (first of many) and it took very little time to adjust, feels normal actually.

Other than that this Regius is a keeper for life :shred:.

Almost raged at the thread title.

I think BKP slants pickups to a max of 10 degrees, which may be why the bridge pickup isn't slanted more.

Lovely guitar, when I first saw it I wasn't in love with the top, but after viewing the 6th picture.. dayumn! And the back is typical Mayones beauty.

Also the black limba body wings looks more like white limba stained black.

Lol sorry I don't know why I did that. It actually looks annoying when I look at it now. I'll see if I can change that to save others in the future from the eye strain.

That's good to know if it is so.

I'm going to use a car analogy and say Carvin is like a reliable Honda and Mayones is the luxury line Acura. Both will take you where you want to go no problem but the luxury versions are more inspiring to "drive" and feel more comfortable sitting in them.

FOR ME, my Carvin DC800 feels more "processed" than handmade like the Regius. I think it's the gloss finish that throws me off. Don't get me wrong though, my Carvin plays like a beast. There's just some voodoo going on with the Mayones that resonates within me...

In short Carvin quality is great while Mayones goes the extra mile.

Pretty damn awesome, the pictures from the back came so surprising with all the dark woods.
Much contrast, very natural, so heavy, wow.

It's clear these are well made with an eye on quality materials but I just don't get them.

One thing I will say is that the back of these guitars always look better than the front.

    Regardless, HNGD!

Finally a VF Mayones here! Congrats dude, it looks great. I would ask you some questions about how it feels but it's too late - my VF Mayo should arrive after the weekend :)

Sorry, but that bridge pickup placement would drive me insane. It almost looks too close to the neck in general, even on the treble side. On the bass side, It's so far forward it seems like it would almost act as a middle pickup & interfere with picking. Absolutely gorgeous guitar otherwise, I just don't understand why Mayo would do that, as I've seen BKP's slanted WAY more than those. If I were you you, I'd shoot them an email w/ some pics & ask what their reasoning / thought process was behind placing it that way.

As far as I know, BKP slant at 10 degree top.

Yep, Ben French from BKP confirmed with me that all their slanted pickups are angled at 10 degrees only. Good to know for future builds.
