I saw this last week at a great price so I figured I'd 'buy to try" as there are none local to me .
Someone on here had mentioned in one of my other posts that the necks on these have a little more shoulder to them than the Super Wizard HP' on the Prestiges.
So far I agree , this feels like a slightly thinner version of the Wizard prestige that's on my 1550M (that I adore)
Don't know about the stock pick ups will play with the heights a bit tomorrow and see if they are staying or going.
Just this past month I have acquired
1550M
RG2770QZA-WB(japan only ) awesome guitar
this 550
and I have an Rg2540MZ incoming from Japan
if the 2540 lives up to my hopes I will probably just move all of these as I don't need this many RGs LOL!!!

So besides the 550 I've got these as well. Being a hard core Jackson/Charvel guy for so many years I think I'm making up for lost time :) Getting a little out of cotrol

So I've got this all set up now E Flat with D'Addario .95-44's on it. Raising the pickups helped tremendously.
I wouldn't say I love these V7/V8 pickups but they definitely don't suck.
At this point I still prefer my 1550M over this, I'll play with it for a week or so but I may just flip it.
Anyone that may be interested just pm me and when I decide I'll update you.

Such an awesome collection! Thanks for sharing! I really like that 2770, what does it have for pickups?

I dig the V7 and V8's, at least in my RG1527... I'm guessing the 6 string ones aren't extremely different?

thanks!! the 2770 has the stock pickups in it
ToneZone/True Velvet/Air Norton
the 1550M has Crunchlab (unknown single but it sounds good) Liquifire, definitely has a lot more output than the "v" pickups in the 550

out of these the 3727 is my favorite. I have the Yellow 550, always loved the headstock on the purple more but wish the body was more purple and less plum. I have an old S series in purple with some metallic in the finish that is awesome. Always though that finish on an RG would look awesome.

Congrats. nice guitar, man.

thanks, I'm starting to bond with it a bit more than I expected, been playing the crap out of it this morning and starting to feel at home on it
the RG3727 is definitely a beauty, I wish my band would pick up some songs where I could use it , it is one of my best playing guitars

This one is incoming from Japan, i will have my tech make a new pick guard back to H/S/S (which this originally was) and throw in some better pickups.
I've rarely seen an "Alder" bodied RG and I really negotiated a good price on this one. Only made for one year and no US distribution. Kind of rare.
I'm hoping the neck on this one is close to the 1550M, if it is the other Rg's are probably all going to be for sale.

Those Genesis models are really comfortable guitars and with the few improvements liek the volute will last you for ages. I love mine but put a Super Distortion in the bridge and think it'll have to go. have you modded any of yours or are they all stock?

The 550 genesis just arrived a couple of day sago. it's stock, so far I am kind of liking the pickups . the 1550M cam with the Crunchlab/Liquifire
the 2770 is stock TX/TV/AN
the Charvel has been through 3 sets of pickups since i got it , what's in there now is working pretty well.
the Rg3727 has Suhr pickups in it

Ah so the maple works with the crunch lab? I'll have to tr that out at some point.
Suhrs are on my list to try some day. But likely not in the RG. We'll see. I was considering caving to overall recommendations and trying the tone zone but I've never liked it much. Whatever I do it'll have to be green as th current combo for the neck is also that color. Ah decisions.

Enjoy your guitars! They're cool.

Add this one to the herd 2011 RG2560ZEX that has a maple board instead of Rosewood. Turns out to be Ash not alder, it looks like a one off or a spot model as this year/model /color ws distributed with Rosewood not Maple.
now up to 5 RG's LOL! after having none for 15 years IMG_4505.jpg

So I got the RG2560MZEX back from my tech and It's restored to it's native H/S/S goodness, and all cleaned up.
I had Perle guitars make me the pickguard.
Jalen FW humbucker in the bridge (push pull pot) very cool pick up
Duncan Classic stack+ in the middle
Duncan 1/4 pounder in the neck.
so with the push pull I have it wired up as this pot down
pos 1 Full hum
pos2 full hum+ middle
pos3 middle
pos 4 middle+ neck
pos 5 neck
pull the pot and it splits the hum so now I get a split hum in pos 1
and a split hum+middle in pos 2
tried it out as rehearsal last night and she is a keeper, got a gig on the 7th and this will be getting played.
