After 1 and 1/2 years it has FINALLY arrived!! I couldn't be more excited. I just received it at work so I just had enough time to open it up, check it out and snap some pictures for you folks but I will definitely be playing this thing when I get home and updating this post with a review. As far as first impressions go, I am absolutely blown away by how this looks. See for yourselves:

Just had a chance to sit down with this thing and MAN does it play like butter. It's ridiculous how smooth this thing is. Seriously, I'm glad I put in the wait because this drips quality all over. I forgot to post my specs earlier:

    Neck: Rosewood
    Fretboard/Head: Ebony
    Top: Figured Koa
Pickups: Black Water Guitar Pathos set
    Knobs: Ebony

    Hardware Color: Black

I feel like I'm cheating on my guitars when I come into threads like this and think things like I'm thinking now.

I saw in your threads that you had a BFR 6, how does it compare to it? specially action, playability, tension of the strings?

It's beautiful BTW, I don't what it is about Blackwater, it's excites me a lot more than the other custom brands out there.

Hey man, yup I still have that BFR 6 string as well. Both of them are incredible guitars but I think I have to give the edge to the Black Water in terms of playability. It just feels so....right. Both are very playable but I feel like the Black Water has an even faster neck than the BFR and the setup that it came with was great on the action. I need to make an adjustment to the truss rod as I think the weather change from Texas to CA is making some of the higher notes fret out on me but that'll be an easy fix.

In terms of the pickups, I think I'll end up changing these to a Dimarzio Illuminator or Crunch Lab set. I went with the Pathos BWGC pickups on these which do sound killer, especially the neck pickup, but the bridge is a little lower output than I was looking for.

Honestly, over all, it's really neck and neck. I couldn't say one is insanely better than the other because they're both absolutely incredible. Right now I'd say I'm definitely preferring the Black Water but I did get it just yesterday so we'll see where time takes things - I see them being very equally used :agreed:

Nicest Koa top I've seen. I had a Mayones Duvell elit Koa I just sold and that top couldn't touch this!

    HNGD!!!!!

I have to admit, the Hipshot Contour tremolo looks a bit more awkward in these photos than I previously imagined. I don't see them on many guitars and I'm interested to build a 7-string with one, but that looks like a lot of real estate for a wiggle stick.
