Yep, I made one of THOSE. I love headless stuff, I'm a function > form guy and I actually started to love the shape the more I looked at it. So this goes out there to the rest of you with questionable taste.

This was originally supposed to be a 'quick and dirty' type build. The initial woodwork happened over the course of just a couple months. The main hangup were the EMG solderless electronics. They were obscenely large, to the point I had to re-route the cavities to double and almost triple size and they still didn't fit. I put the project on the shelf for another 2 years (!) but I'm on a rip about finishing stuff lately, I decided it was time. Minus the connectors on the back of the pickups, everything is hardwired now.

This build actually predates the CNC machine, so everything was done the old fashioned way (aka, stacks and stacks of templates). I'm very happy with the way this went, for the most part. There's a spot where the roundover bit went too deep on the back because my bearing went into the trem cavity (my first time routing for a Steiny trem, so I didn't anticipate how close it was). I use some tinted wood putty that looked pretty good when the wood was raw, way more noticeable after finishing but oh well.

Now that it's finished, I'm kicking myself that I didn't finish it sooner. I went on a little bit of a mission a few years ago trying out all the guitars I've wanted, especially the headless variety. I had a ZT3, a GR4 and a Carvin Holdsworth. This definitely scratches the itch, and the ergonomic part of it puts it over the top. New favorite setup, for sure.

    Specs:

2 piece White Ash Body (blue to teal fade w/ 2k urethane clear)
    Moses Graphite Neck
Flamed Maple Cavity Cover and Pickguard
    J-Custom R-Trem
    89/SA/SA+5-way blade, 1V 1T
    Single Ball String Adapter

It looks like something you'd find swimming around the bottom of the ocean. I kinda like it

DUDE. AWESOME. I'm looking at 2 for sale right now on JP auction sites, but one is already over my bank account balance. You up for a group run? :D

That guitar is like a work of art! I love the wooden pick guard and is the fretboard ebony?

Ah, didn't think of that. I gotta figure out where to mount the bioluminescent lightbulb to lure prey.

Sounds like a plan. You can find my Western Union information on my website, sketchybuilder.ru

    Thank you very much.

The whole neck is solid graphite like a traditional Steinberger/Kleinberger, hence being super super dark black. I love synthetics on anything that requires climate/humidity stability, and I'm a huge headless nerd so the whole concept was a match made in heaven.

This is actually my fifth Moses graphite neck. I've had two other headless, one Strat and one Tele. They made the Music Yo era Steiny necks that had a not so great reputation but all the recent era necks I've owned were great. The only reason I sold any of the rest of is that they weren't ultimately what I wanted for the specific guitars I had them on. This build was the first designed around the neck instead of being an after thought.

It's kind of a funny story, I got this back during Moses lazy summer sale two years ago on an impulse. They closed for neck production shortly thereafter and the market for any of their necks (especially the headless) dried up overnight. Very lucky timing

Likewise, the body is white ash (like a baseball bat), which is one of my favorite looking and sounding tonewoods. I bought the lumber for this and a few months later, ash was added to the endangered list, so it's near impossible to get now. Another lucky bit of timing.

Ah, is that why today's baseball bats are made of richlite?

That thing is fucking awesome, dude!

    Love it!

I'm not usually a fade fan, but that just "works", very tasteful.

Not going to lie, not a fan of the shape but the execution is really solid. Looks really well made and the colour looks great!

I checked my tracking information but it's not showing shipped yet.

Am I the only one that thinks it's weird your customer service uses chaturbate?

It's pretty compatible with the shape IMO. I lost it when this came to auction this week:

I absolutely love your build - congratulations on a great job! Consider me a fellow geek with questionable taste... sadly this geek, unlike you, is still Klein-less.

    Cheers

That looks cool. It is ugly as sin in terms of shape but the finish is great.

I've never been a fan of the shape, but the elements you put in there (slanted middle pup, pickguard, location of switch, finish) make this the best looking Klein build out there. And that neck kicks ass. I gotta get me one of those some day!

    Damn dude.
I mean, I wouldn't be caught dead with a headless- totally not my scene, but I'd be a liar if I said this didn't turn out cool as hell. Something about the switch placement and the mini-pickguard really makes the whole thing 'flow,' I definitely dig it. Finish was a nice choice, too. HNGD man; glad you're happy with it!
