I usually never deal with Guitarcenter (for obvious reasons) but I found this gem and pulled the trigger on her. Been looking for a 1984 Explorer for a few years and could never afford the $3-4k they go for on Ebay. Hoped I could find a white one, but settled for ebony. It's more rare anyway (or seems so to me) and that was enough to change my mind. Got her Thursday and I haven't been able to put her down. After some tinkering I've discovered that it still has the original Dirty Fingers, and they sound HUGE. But they still have plenty of clarity so I'll probably keep em in. The finish has some chips and scratches but nothing serious that I've felt the need to refinish it. I used some Turtle Wax Scratch and Swirl then a coat of wax and she still shines! Got myself some chrome domes, black selector knob, and Grover locking buttons from Stew Mac. Also some black fingerboard stain. I didn't like how light the rosewood was and thought it made it look kinda cheap. The result is a lot cleaner and classier!
