Hey all, after going through a 6 string only period, the last couple of years I've been getting back to 7 strings and trying to have zero space in my room from all the gear lol! So I was looking towards getting a longer scale 7 string to play in or drop G more comfortably. My three 7 strings have been 25.5 and they do a good job but wanted something at 26.5 or 27. I came across this online. A bit banged up in terms of dings and a few repairs in color but it seemed in a good playing condition. Price was just right so here it is, the Agile 727 Interceptor Pro in red.
Most of you know the deal, probably have played quite a few of these. In terms of condition, as mentioned, it has a few dings and a couple of paint repairs. But the rest is functioning perfectly. The strings it came in are quite light and feel floppy on drop G but they have a nice bright sound so I'm hesitant to change them. It might have a slightly high fret or the trem is too low (action is really low) as I had note choke when bending somewhere on the 15th fret on the G string. I'll raise the action a bit and see and/or go ahead and put slightly thicker stings.
The frets I would consider medium jumbo or just medium. I don't mind them honestly. The neck profile is thicker than my Jacksons and LTD but still quite manageable. The 707 in the bridge sounded better than I expected, even in drop G, but since I'm planning to put thicker strings, I put an 81-7 in the bridge. Sounds tighter now but honestly I could live with the 707. The trem is, I think, the Takeuchi one. I might be wrong so please correct me on this. The blades are a bit battered and the posts show signs of wear. I haven't tried any weird stuff on it tonsee if it returns to potch but flutters and vibrato are ok. It has the push in arm. If I keep this guitar, I'd like to upgrade it, but the profile is one of those slanted edges so it might require a bit of routing. Not too fussed right now. I love the looks and the reversed headstock with the black out Ebony board! The color is ok. I would prefer a bit more vibrant red but its ok.
In total, I'm happy with it and it sounds good. Not as light as it looks, but not super heavy. I'm happy with the fact it is super tight and defined on drop G but I'm curious to see how much of that is due to the light strings! This concludes another episode of me finding a cheaper guitar for a good deal lol!
