Never thought I'd say this, but I got a J.Custom

Didn't think I'd every get one, as I haven't bonded with many Ibanez's over the years and have a Suhr Modern for any HSH goodness, but I saw some threads on here about them recently and that kicked off some GAS.

So I went looking on Ebay etc not expecting to find anything as the used market for Ibanez isn't as cheap in the UK as the US etc and then boom a week later this beauty turns up at a £ I couldn't refuse!

    Specs:
    RG7570z from 2015ish
    Basswood Body
    AAA Flame Maple Top
    Ebony fretboard
Maple neck with tiny streak of ebony(?)
    J custom neck treatment
Dimarzio Tone Zone, True Velvet and Air Norton Pickups

    First thoughts:
Only got this yesterday and haven't had much time to play but set up was immaculate out of the box (just tweaked the action slightly).

Previous owner really looked after it is in top top condition

Love the feel of the neck, and probably some of the best fit and finish I've seen on any guitar (the J treatment is really noticeable)

Neck profile isn't as wide/thin as some Ibanez Wizard necks but still slightly too wide for my tastes, but sure I'll get used to it.

Just need to put some 10s on it and I'll be a very happy man

HNGD! I don't know why, but Ibanez nailed the amber(?) finish. Looks so sick.

I'd say thats probably a "vintage violin" with a very subtle burst, but I agree - whatever you want to say about other Ibanez finishes, that's one they absolutely knocked out of the park.

Yeah if I think of Top end Ibanez, Id assume TOL - but I like that this doesn't have that tbf!

I think they call it a BBE finish - Brown something Rugile something. Its more orange than it looks in the pics - which is fine compliments my Bengal Burst suhr well!

I'm a big fan of both the Tone Zone, and the True Velvet pickups. I hope they work well in that beautiful guitar- congrats.

Haven't had much chance to put them through their paces yet, but they seem what I'd expect from Dimarzio's in a Ibby!

Congrats! Btw, I think the thin strips of wood in the neck are walnut.

^ Yeah I think you're right - believe the newest ones have ebony, which is why I was confused

Can you show another pic of the back plate? Looks very cool -- guessing designed to let you do maintenance on the floyd without unscrewing the plate?
