I’ve wanted an Eclipse for several years but never purchased one. I knew full thickness was the way to go. Natural black burst looks classy and I think anyone could appreciate. So here is a new (released in 2019 I think) E-II Eclipse FT

the finish seems flawless. Nothing out of order that I can see. Not sure if the flame is a veneer but they say it’s a full maple cap. Looks really nice.

fretboard was dyed and so were my fingers but after a cleaning the board appears nice and dark. Feels good under the fingers.

the neck is gloss finished which I wouldn’t normally go for but there’s no signs of stickiness after playing. Causes no interruptions beyond my lack of skill. Also, this isn’t the “thin u” I remember before. It has more meat to it but it fits very comfortably in my hand. My other guitars are thin profiles so it’s a change but not at all a hinderance.

full thickness. Has some heft but I dig it.

the EMG (57/66 I believe) are nice. Through my Mark V:25 I can really achieve a great metal tone. The split function is super significant but I suppose it adds some spankiness and brightness.

absolutely in love with this guitar. It has really inspired me to play every day.

sorry for the basement pictures but the weather is not permitting at this time.

yeah, this past year has really sapped my desire to do anything. Also the style of guitar itself has me wanting to play some classic rock. I’ve been going back and learning some standards. Fun sessions playing some Zeppelin and AC/DC

I can relate - picked up my first Les Paul last year, and learned the solo from Don’t Cry (Guns N Roses) because I just needed to! November Rain is next. I don’t even like GNR, but damn if those aren’t some catchy solos.

Looks awesome I have hard gas for this model. Sadly E-II pricing in Canada is bullshit

IIRC, it's a full maple cap WITH a veneer added on top for cosmetic reasons

    Gorgeous guitar though

Black Natural Burst is one of my fav ESP finishes of late. Congrats! Singlecut GAS is strong right now. Trying to tell myself to save for a Nik Huber but all these ESP NGDs are tempting!

It does seem like there has been an influx in ESP purchases on here. I know why after purchasing this guitar, well built and it plays and sounds great

Love my Eclipse also. The E-II level is good enough for me with no disclaimers. The USA models are doubtlessly awesome, but I'm not paying 2X the cost of an E-II for one. I bought mine to get a taste of the Zakk Wylde formula for power metal, etc, and it has been one of my #1s since then.

ProTip: After trying a few different kinds of strings, I've found that Curt Mangan 10-46s are supreme on my Eclipse.

I normally don't like bursts but this is the correct place to put a burst. Nice grab!

    Love this finish. Congrats!

Most every E-II has a veneer on top of a full maple top.
Yes, with the introduction of E-II's the 'Thin U' neck-shape was given more chunk, in comparison to earlier ESP Standard Series. That said, ESP is notorious for inconsistent shaping of the 'Thin U', lol.

E-II's use veneers on top of a maple cap.
