I’ve wanted an Eclipse for several years but never purchased one. I knew full thickness was the way to go. Natural black burst looks classy and I think anyone could appreciate. So here is a new (released in 2019 I think) E-II Eclipse FT the finish seems flawless. Nothing out of order that I can see. Not sure if the flame is a veneer but they say it’s a full maple cap. Looks really nice. fretboard was dyed and so were my fingers but after a cleaning the board appears nice and dark. Feels good under the fingers. the neck is gloss finished which I wouldn’t normally go for but there’s no signs of stickiness after playing. Causes no interruptions beyond my lack of skill. Also, this isn’t the “thin u” I remember before. It has more meat to it but it fits very comfortably in my hand. My other guitars are thin profiles so it’s a change but not at all a hinderance. full thickness. Has some heft but I dig it. the EMG (57/66 I believe) are nice. Through my Mark V:25 I can really achieve a great metal tone. The split function is super significant but I suppose it adds some spankiness and brightness. absolutely in love with this guitar. It has really inspired me to play every day. sorry for the basement pictures but the weather is not permitting at this time.
