So I just got a 1993 Fender American Telecaster Standard! Which so happens to be from my Birth year.
It's in immaculate condition for its age, needs a good clean on the fretboard though, no big deal.

Everything seems to be standard on it from the Advertisement, the usual American electronics and such.

The guitar weighs a bloody tonne too, which is nice. Decently thick neck too.

One question, whats the hole on the neck plate for? I've heard about something to do with a tilt mechanism?

    On to the photos:

    Gorgeous finish :yesway:.

What's with the rust-coloured stuff on the fretboard?

I think it's just wood grain, doesn't feel different or come off when rubbed

Huh. Never in my life have I seen that type of thing before. You'll know it's yours!

    Looks great! Great color, too.

Some more knowledgeable than me can chime in, but I think that hole is for the Micro-Tilt adjustment. How exactly that works - don't know - I don't have a guitar with it. I thought it was something like if you want to tilt the neck to change the action, you loosen the neck screws, then adjust the mechanism (with a hex key or screwdriver), then tighten the neck back up again. Based on which way you turned the mechanism, you either have higher or lower relief.

But again, somebody that knows should chime in.

I'll let you know when I clean it!

    Yep that's it!
Seems to play perfectly so I'm not going to touch it

    Congrats!
Love that color--I think its Mystic Seafoam, but I could be wrong.

Something about Strats and Teles, they have their own unique vibe and there is something so special about their 'dated' construction that it makes for a playing experience unlike any other guitar, in my opinion.

I was bit by the Fender Strat/Tele bug last year. I grabbed an American Pro Strat and it's great. Although I'm also GASing hard for a Tele, and your NGD has re-ignited my GAS.

I think Mystic Seafoam is a new finish introduced with the American Pro stuff. This looks like it may be Caribbean Mist--great color! I had a 90's strat in that color. This isn't helping my Tele GAS, either...to further expand on my non-SSO guitar collection.

They may have called this something else, but that does look pretty much exactly like my mystic seafoam JM finish wise. If it's different, it's not by much.

I'm greatful to have the F style thing covered, but I need something else with a mahogany neck now .

Man, there's something about this one that really speaks to me. Never been a fan of that color until now. Let us know how the fretboard cleans up!
