Was looking for something a little different than my normal choices for guitars. Found this awesome American Special Jazzmaster made for Chicago Music Exchange. These are limited to 50 Sonic Blue and 50 Olympic White. It's basically a barebones Jazzmaster with some modern touches. It has an adjusto-matic bridge and stopbar tailpiece instead of the tremolo that never stays in tune. It's got a modern 9.5" radius and Jumbo frets. The neck profile is a modern C and to my surprise, satin finished. Has American Vintage 65' Jazzmaster pickups. I added some Fender Schaller locking tuners as well. Sounds and plays completely awesome. I get some really great clean tones as expected, but it sounds really good with some overdriven tones through my Orange Dual Dark 50.

    Lovely guitar, congrats!

I really dig the higher gain sounds you can get out of single coil pickups, I imagine it to be a great combination with the orange.

Love it JD. I've got a Fender Jaguar Blacktop HH with a hard tail that is pretty similar (but 24 scale). My fav guitar at the moment. Plays so smooth. Something about how that body shape sits in my lap that makes it so effortless to play. Congrats!

That blue is one of the most perfect colors for these classic/ vintage looking guitars imo. Love it. HNGD

HNGD! Color is definitely right for a Fender, I dig. I hate glossy finished necks (at least on a Fender) the satin is way better imo.

Yeah they sound really good through the Orange. I think these are a bit more defined than the P90s I have in my SG. These pickups are kind of like a more rounded strat pickup, they are bright but have more bass and mids.

I know, I do love the offset shapes. I thought about getting one of those Blacktops when they came out, but I wanted the traditional pickups. I almost had an ESP XJ which would have been awesome too, but that fell through.

I love Sonic Blue, that is my favorite Fender color. The Daphne Blue is nice too. But the classic colors like Surf Green, Seafoam Green, and Sonic Blue are hard to beat when it comes to classy looks.

Yeah it was dark when I got it last night, so it's not the best representation of the color. It also has a mint colored pickguard. Here are the two colors from CME.

That sonic blue is super classy! I really dig that finish. Awesome about the satin neck, Fender loves some gloss for sure. HNGD!
Mint pick guard is a good touch. It's almost like you don't see it until you see it, then it's even better.
