Self built custom with specs below. I did a stain and gloss finish that I wasn't happy with over time, so decided to take it all back, make a few tweaks, and re-finish with oil. Really happy with the look and feel of it now. This one is a keeper!

Build progress starting on post 12, and re-finish on 169 in my consolidated build thread.

    Specs:
    Style: 7 string Set thru.
    Scale: 27"
    Bridge: Evertune F7
Tuners: Hipshot open tuners - 4 bass/3 treble
    Pickups: Instrumental SFTY3
Electronics: 3 way toggle, 1 volume w/push-pull coil split
    Body wood: Mahogany - 1.75"
    Top wood: Amboyna Burl
    Neck: 5 piece Wenge/Rosewood
Fret board: Macassar Ebony w/Luminlay side dots
Head Stock: Custom 4x3 with Amboyna laminate
    Nut: Black Tusq XL
    Frets: 24 Jescar 51/100 stainless
Truss Rod: Spoke wheel at neck pocket
    Finish: Odie's oil

I had a magnet backwards, so reversed it and didn't really clean it up that well. Oops.

Looks sick! Love the body shape. No counter sink for the back plate? I can’t really tell, I’m on my phone

Not for the Evertune cover plate, I did that on another build but brings the total body thickness to 1.85", although does look nicer. If I had enough left over top wood I'd make a matching cover plate for sure. A fixed bridge would look super clean as an alternate, but Evertune is my go-to now.

    Thoughts on Odie's Oil?

I gotta try an Evertune. Seems like it'd be nice to keep things tight with low tuned instruments. I've been thinking about a 7 string bari for awhile....no, no, no Bobo finish your other projects first lol.

Love to hear some clips, especially with those pups ;)

So far I really really like it. I tried some water based finishes (what I removed from this one) that I never got the results I wanted from. Mostly user error I'm sure, but not so easy to work with either. I've had moderately good results with oil based spray on polys. The Odie's oil goes on so easy and gets into the pores unlike any of my other finish attempts. Not too worried about the lack of protection. Going to try out the Solarez ICBINL for a future gloss attempt, but sticking with oil for the all natural finishes now.

It works really well for the drop G tuning I'm using with a 70 gauge over 27" scale. I can chug really hard without worry about notes bending sharp, and even with thinner gauge strings if I want to brighten up the sound a bit.

Pickups are BADASS! Vastly prefer them over almost everything else I've tried so far, except for the SFTY-4 which I have in a multi-scale V. Working on a new track featuring this guitar, I have a lyric video posted on YT when it had the previous finish on it, but the guitar mix kind of sucks.

Hot damn, what a killer home build. Totally reminds me of the twin redwood KxK 8s, and those were some of my favorite guitars I've seen on this board.
Love the streak in the fretboard too. Really good job, man; I'm glad you're happy with it!

Cool choice of pickups, you don't see them a lot, but they are really great!

Those pickups sound like they could be an option for me. Is there a specific way to get in contact with the maker? I don't see a specific website, other than a Facebook page.
