Well, I wasn't expecting this to arrive on a Saturday but here we are. 2011 Caparison Dellinger SE in a very NOT black dark blue finish. Was advertised as black and the pictures made it seem black but it has the same chip on the headstock so I don't know what to tell you.

I had to take the DiMarzio ClipLock strap button off as I discovered the guitar had been damaged in shipping and the paint was pressure chipped. When a strap button is installed, the chip is opened up more, so I'll have to leave it off until I can fix it. See below:

A great shame as other than a few micro-dents, and a bit of patina, the guitar is in excellent condition, but I was half expecting something like this to happen anyway.

I'll be replacing the stock pickups with an EMG 85 + S/SA/SLV + S/SA/SLV set but I haven't decided what combination yet.

This guitar is fantastic. It's tonally versatile and plays itself. For the last couple of nights I have come home to just noodle in pos. 4 (neck + middle) on my Axe-Fx using the TriAxis model and the tones are unbelievable. Very tasty stuff.

bummer about the damage. I had that exact model for my first caparison. Midnight blue is what they called it and I always wished it was black. Great guitar man
Yeah, I don't know how I feel really I like both colours but I think high-end black HSS Floyd guitars are my absolute jam but it looks great so whatever.

Great score. That's a very cool Caparison.
Funny how life pans out sometimes. As I've said before, I had really moved onto less-metal guitars and sort of HSS pop/jazz fusion/rock guitars like the Luke I, but this guitar really is incredible. It feels amazing and looks sensational from every angle. The craftsmanship is next-level. I need to get my ass into gear and fix that paint damage so I can put a strap on it.

Awesome, I really like this colour on guitars. Pat from the JCS did a Soloist a while back in a similar colour which also looked great.
Good time to buy a new guitar for anyone who lives in Wellington. I lived in New Plymouth for 10 years and the wind is savage enough there to want to stay inside 24/7 during winter.

I had one of these in that deep red, same year I think. I think it was desert rose or something?

Such a nice playing guitar. Shame about the damage.

Yep it's a rather understated colour. Haha we're just seeing off winter. Today is freezing - commute to work was not fun.

I don't think I've seen one in that colour but it sounds cool. If you look on Caparison's website you can see a list of discontinued guitars - unfortunately they don't all have photos.

Very cool. I see you used the shorter Seymour Duncan pickup ring that came with what I'm quickly going to assume is a Black Winter. I've just ordered an 85, two SLV's, and a 3-pickup/5-way switch wiring kit from EMG, so I decided I'd gamble on an All Parts Epiphone flat bottom slanted pickup ring to replace the stock one (I didn't want to drill a hole in it).
