I moved my AW-7 as I wasn't getting along with the neck profile on it in a trade for this to try out another Ibanez 8 (I am quite fond of my RG8). The Dactivators aren't my favorite pickups (I really like my Blackouts in my other two 8s), but I'm going to give them a while before I think about changing them out.

Awesome guitar, but that's an odd place for the input jack (if that's what it is).

It is the input jack, and it's not that uncommon (see Strats and just about any other Ibby S).

Really nice looking guitar, I'm not a fan of gold hardware but that's me.
    Whats the scale length?

Like all (IIRC) Ibanez 8s it's 27" - I really dig gold hardware when appointed correctly. I think black or chrome just wouldn't fit on this guitar.

Very nice! Glad to see you got one, too. These look like they're incredible guitars.

I was surprised to see you weren't a fan of the D'activators, but then I saw you loved the Blackouts, and I can see how you may not like them. They are quite different pickups, with the D'activators being a little more abrasive in the mids than the blackouts.

    HNGD!

The bridge pickup sounds weak on the 8th string compared to other 7 - it could just be my ears playing tricks on me. I'll try recording something with them later this week to see how I feel about that aspect of the DA8 set.

It could be just a matter of adjusting the pickup height. I feel like they did that to keep the clarity up on the 8th. I'm not sure, I've only played the 7 and 6 string versions.

Hi, nice guitar, one can't stop loving these Ss...

About those DAs, try to raise them a little to see if it makes a difference in what to expect from them. Also, if you're in the mood for it, split coils on those pickups sound awesome for clean and moderate dirt tones... hell, even on heavy dirt tones they sound great...

Nice guitar! The pickup selector looks close to the volume knob though, Looks like it's easy to knock into bridge position while rolling up the volume, beautiful guitar regardless!
