Actually scored this guitar back in December 2020 so this is a very belated NGD thread! 1995 RG770G. This is the first RG770 model to feature the AANJ...they had a run from 1994-1996. Usual other 770 specs: Basswood Body Lo Pro Edge trem, Original Wizard neck, IBZ/USA pickups.

A great playing and sounding guitar.....770's are among my fave Ibanez models of all time...serious bang for your buck. The IBZ/USA humbuckers are easily the best stock Ibanez pups. Di Marzio made and feature on all the 7XX series models from the late 80's to 1996 as well as the USAC models. These ones are very cool, no need to swap them out....F2 in the bridge is in Tome Zone Zone territory and the F4 in the neck is like a hotter Paf Pro. All the late 80's shred tones you could want.

This one has had a custom aftermarket finish. Really cool Metallic 'Chameleon' finish and a right proper barsteward to photograph. If any of you have ever owned one of the XPT700 models in Red Chameleon it's very close to that. Colour flips from a deep Ruby Red, to Bronze and then to Green.

As always: Thanks for looking and here are some pics:

That finish is absolutely stunning... especially with the gold hardware. Late "Congratulations!"

This is the Xiphos model I mentioned in my OP. Finish is so similar: 1axiphos.jpg

The 770 as it is without the light hitting it:

I managed to snag a nice Prestige case for it as well:

Wow, that is almost spot on the old XPT700 finish. Makes me remember why an RG was the first guitar I ever wanted - awesome instrument you have there.

IbanezD, just noticed your post. That guitar is just incredible. RG770s and other 7 series are my favourite Ibanezs. Never knew these came with AANJs.

I really wished they brought back the 7xx with AANJ and the original 56mm wide necks.

Cool!! Thanks very much! Yeah I'm pretty sure it was the first ones with the AANJ....circa 1994-96. The previous models all had the square heels. A very similar model with the AANJ would be the RG670DX if you want to check those out....very like the 770DX but with the AANJ and Quantum pickups. Another 770 with the AANJ is the circa 2001 Japan market only model RG770FM (HSH, Quantum pickups, offset dots). The 2008 770DX reissue had the square heel as well as the later RG3770DX.

Damn that's nice. I had a 92 770DX in Laser Blue that was great. I recently sold it though as I have too many and I think Ibanez guitars aren't actually for me.

What does the G suffix mean?
