Tears of December was actually pretty decent. It sounds real. The biggest problem I have with his newer material is how awful his voice sounds like under production. The chorus of Sleeping Dogs is a prime example of that. He sounds fine during the verse, but in the chorus he sounds like an electrified Ozzy clone singing Skynyrd.

I really do enjoy Book of Shadows, it's easily my favorite of the solo efforts that he's recorded. But I'm not getting my hopes up. I remember the reason I bought Hangover Music was because a lot of people compared it to Book of Shadows. Talk about disappointing.

I disagree... if we're talking pre-2000 Zakk. His vocals on pride and Glory, Book of Shadows (1), and the first BLS album are awesome. Kind of has that soulful southern rock thing going on instead of sounding like a congested Ozzy.

I'm familiar with his vocals in the old days.......I just don't like his singing voice

He writes some really sappy music for such a mean looking guy.

I can't take him seriously after Hangover music. Some good tunes on there, but his ripping solos don't exactly fit in with the somber vocal/piano pieces. Like, hilariously out of palce.

he sounds like he's playing through an aquarium.

seriously though, what's the point of the acoustic in this context.

Decent. Dunno if it's anything I'd ever buy and want to listen to a whole album of though.

    Yeah :(
Instead of mellowing out as he ages, he's gotten more ridiculous in the worst manner possible.

There would have been many good ways to pay his respects to the great man. This was not one of them.

That vid and some of the other ones with that same backing band with him needlessly shredding the acoustic, man, I feel genuinely embarrassed for the other musicians on stage with him. I bet they cringe looking back at that watching Zakk play the acoustic like that :ugh:
