oh yeah I heard that too. I think tremonti said in some interviews that europe was basically what kept AB going in the early days. (don't quote me on that though)

I liked Fortress and The Last hero. Myles' voice just had a bit too much vibrato though for me to get very into them. It's almost operatic sometimes.

Yea they're pretty big here I've seen them grow in the venues here and on festivals, there's no doubt about AB being almost their "main income" and it'd be nuts to let that go. It just saddens me that the solo output has been more interesting lately.

I never made it past ABIII. That thing was brickwalled to FUCK - the opening track with the vocal/clean arpeggio intro, when the band kicks in, there's literally no perception of a change in dynamics, aside from the content of the sound - it doesn't get any louder, there's just now bass, drums, and distortion. First two albums are great, though, and the writing on the third is probably good, it's just extremely uncomfortable to listen to.

From a production standpoint, or a writing standpoint?

Production mostly, it's insane how brickwalled it is espescially if you think ABIII was bad already. The writing changed too but it's mostly just a different direction.

Hahaha that's true. It's the signature Elvis Baskette sound. Though ABIII never bothered me in that aspect, I really like the guitar tone on that album and All I Was which is really similar. It's like a mix of high gain and bright metallic cleans, but with power chords instead of djenting. I think it was around that time that Mark said he really loved his unique Cornford RK100 head in the studio. So I assume that amp was part of that tone. Fortress is okay for me too. It's in The Last Hero and A Dying Machine that it starts to get so noticeable that it's almost funny sometimes. I see the new Tremonti album is going to be no different. Personally aside from the compressed mix I liked A Dying Machine. But the last two Alter Bridge records I can barely get through one whole song. I think it's a combination of the compressed mix and Myles's harmonies. There's so many, it's like overkill, it feels unpleasant to listen. The riffs didn't catch my attention either..

Oh cool, they're doing this again. I remember they did live studio performances from the first album, but haven't done that since then.

I'll be honest, I loved "Aii I Was," particularly "The Things I've Seen" and "Giving Up." However, I haven't given the other 3 offerings much of a listen. This thread has made me open up my Spotify and catch up on Tremonti ahead of the new album.

Huge Tremonti fan in virtually everything he's done. Fanboi to the point of custom ordering a PRS Tremonti USA model... and eventually selling it because I didn't jive with it. :rant2:

Just heard the whole thing, the heavy part is just the intro/main riff, the rest is pretty "standard" fare in terms of heavyness, still a good track though!

This comment is hilarious because I agree 100%. Every time I listen to that intro I always felt like something was missing. Still, I thought Isolation and a few other tunes on that album were pretty solid.

I think Tremonti's solo stuff is great. The mix always sounds so punchy and his variations of tunings are interesting. His vocals are just ok, but they are at least passable for me.

I only finally got into fortress and the last hero recently. AB1-3 are still better albums for my money but there are some belters on both of those albums too.

Tried really hard to like walk the sky but the mix on that one really doesnt do the music any favours. Apparently Elvis did it in his new home studio and I feel like he wasn't used to his new mix room or something.

Those two new singles have been running through my head all day. I have nothing further to say except that this is the most hyped I've been for a new release in a while.
