I couldn't agree more. I lost interest in about 20 sec into the new track.

I actually lost interest after their first album, but figured I would give this a listen. Disappoint.

I just don't understand why people are bashing Polaris out like it is some kind of St. Anger. I find this album to be the best of Tesseract, love the ambient djent stuff!

Put me in the 'One was awesome but I haven't really cared since' pile.
I can't even put my finger on it. Something about One was just amazing all around, and whatever it was there that was 'it' just hasn't been there on any of the other releases.
Luminary sounds great though, and it's the first thing I've heard from them in years to get me excited again. Hopefully it's not like how Nocturne was where the single was great but the album was a letdown.

If the polaris guitar tone was on their first 2 albums, it would have been perfection for me.

I'm a big fan of Polaris. Metal generally bores the shit out of me aside from a few bands these days, so everything Tesseract puts out is pretty refreshing even if it may not be their strongest material.

you can put me in the bring back the cohones camp... new song starts mighty damn heavy and interesting and before you can settle in the heaviness, you got the pop bs going on again... I do dig Dan's voice a lot but with heavyness and the progressive angle from one. So far it seems that one blew me off my feet and then they took the band to the vet to get neutered...

Another new single called 'King' has dropped today (it's on Spotify right now, I expect a clip or stream in a bit)
I like this a whole lot better than Luminary, I hope the rest will be a bit more in line with this too.

I'm just really not digging these singles so far. It is nice to hear a bit of screaming again though. I'm sure it will grow on me when the album releases.

its good seeing heavier vocal make its way back in. I like the direction of this. Seems less polished than Polaris but in a good way. Like the production is still great but it seems more raw?.

    Well, that was kinda boring...
I understand the ambient thing but It's like they're songs have become less dynamic after Altered State.

About halfway through the song, I was thinking "gee, ya know, this song should have a choice scream in it", then Dan delivered. Definitely more pumped for this album after hearing this second track!

Ok, King is MUCH better than Luminary, and I probably enjoy it more than anything off of Polaris. Soooo guess we’ll see what comes next. Either way, I’ll give Sonder a listen since Ill always have my love of One and Altered State.

For me it's because it felt more "emotionally diverse," if that statement makes any sort of sense. Like it had darker, heavier moments that made the soaring melodies much more impactful and vice versa. Since One, they've dropped the harsh vocals and even the heaviest moments seem to be soaked in beautiful ambiences behind them. For me the lack of more ominous moments like Nascent makes the beautiful moments feel "cheaper."
