So I got this idea randomly today as a means to promote creativity for the users here. IDEA: We set a date for a everybody to create a screen capture and/or live shot VIDEO of themselves creating a piece of music. WHAT THE FUCK? Hear me out. On a set day, everybody gets in front of their gear and DAW with a video camera. Each person then makes a movie showing themselves creating a piece of music from scratch. NO PRERECORDED SHIT! -You can do this by just videoing yourself in front of your amp and then you on a kit and then you on a bass adn then you on a cello or whatever. But it has to be BRAND NEW MUSIC. -You could also take a screen capture your your DAW as you write and record/mix your music to create a video. OR -you could do a mix of both things to create your presentation. SO WHY? This will give the SSO community a look into how we all create music. I think it would be very interesting to see each other's workflow and habits when it comes to stroking those strings or keyboards. It will also give each participant an ability to look back at themselves and see how their projects work from a non-stressed out of the box perspective. Maybe you don't realize that you space out for 10 minutes while mixing. Maybe in the heat of creativity you don't notice that your buses are all routed wrong or your compressor isn't actually on. This could also give ideas to people that you don't even notice but are valuable for others. So that's the plan? Yup. I'm willing to hear other suggestions too. When should this happen? What could work better? Preferences on video length? Let me know what you all think about this. The SSO OHC seems to be a mild hit. I think this could be a real resource for this site.
