    So I just got a my 6505mh.
If I play it for longer than 5 minutes the TSI lights turn red and no sound.
If I flip it to standby for awhile and turn it back I can play for about a minute before it goes red.
I got till Monday to figure it out or send it back.
    Anyone have any advice?

If it is under warranty, I would not hesitate to send it back. That is incorrect behavior.

Yeah, I bought it off Amazon so I can send it back.
It will be until Monday til I ship it though.
This is my first tube amp.
From what I read its something to do with the bias being to low.
I'm not sure I wanna even attempt to reset that, it would probably be un returnable if I did.
Not to mention I have no idea other than youtube to figure out how to do that.

If you haven't already done so, send that ish back. That's not how amps work.

I got it Thursday and just got it hooked up today with work and what not.
Not knowing anything about tube amps I came to ask here.
It seems to be a pretty unanimous send it back.

Received my replacement head today, same thing is happening.
Everything is right, voltage selector thing is set for US outlets.
    Speaker is 8ohms, that's set.
I'm gonna keep playing it and see if it just a break in thing or something.
If not I send this one back for a refund.
Anyone have any suggestions?I play death metal.

Not very good quality....lots of people having bias issues with these heads. They run way to hot. Noisy as hell. Trim bias point is a pain to get to. Ive had mine for two months and have been thorough three sets of tubes. And yes I've biased it as cold as I can without it sounding like crap.

I think El84 amps in general just suck.

Yeah I've already boxed it up and am shipping it back tomorrow. Three sets of tubes probably cost about as much as the amp huh?
This was my first tube amp and my last Peavey ever.
Looking for alternatives for a practice amp now.
I'm honestly thing about getting a hotone heart attack.
It's $139 dollars and sounds pretty close to the mesa rectifier its simulating. With the savings I can get a beat buddy mini and the Seymour 805 overdrive I want.

The old us made peaveys are built like tanks. Dont rule out a old 5150 or xxx one day because of these new pos heads.

I had a 6505mh for a week or so and had no issues like you are describing. I ended up sending it back, but only because I've heard sharts that sounded better. Send back and look elsewhere imo.

I got a 6505mh a little while back and actually like it a lot so far. I didn't have problems like you described though so I would be iffy on the quality if you got 2 bad ones. I have a 6505+ that I like very much and didn't like the 6505mh as much as I thought I would at first. I have had some time to mess with it now though and have changed my opinion. I didn't have my settings dialed in right at first and was having trouble getting a good sound out of it. I'm glad I did mess with it though because now I got it sounding almost identical to my 6505+ which I needed because I planned on using this as a smaller traveling set up for jamming and a few gigs. The mh is made in China, but I am a little annoyed that the 6505+ now moved to China (the head that is the combo did awhile ago I think). It's one thing to move to China but the price stayed the same. To me that is a rip off. Glad I got mine before they moved them to China though :) .

I have a 6505MH and after biasing, it's a great little amp. However, it looks like your dealer has gotten a lousy shipment, so why not try a 5150LBX?

The 5150lbx is about $200 more than the 6505.
I honestly can't justify spending that much for a bedroom practice amp.
I want a small practice amp for death metal. I'm never going to play with a band, I just want something that sounds good and works. Usually when you spend $500 dollars on something it works.
My crap line6 spider at least works, it sounds horrendous but works.

Damn all this info on the 6505MH is making me worry, that's basically why I wanted the upcoming Pirahna - bedroom practice. Gonna wait on some reviews then. Yeeesh.

I did my research on the 6505mh, tons of great reviews.
Than come to find out many people have received garbage amps from them.
I wouldn't want one now if peavey sent me it for free.
What little play time I got out of it wasn't that great anyhow.

Huh. Meanwhile, it's 100 euro cheaper in Europe. Weird.

I've had mine for a few months now, and have really enjoyed it. Sounds like a bad batch. I would try one from Sweetwater or Sam Ash. When I first got mine, I was looking at the numbers on the knobs and trying to match my 6505+ settings. It didn't sound good. I've realized I can keep the gain at 4 rather than 6, and can scoop the mids quite a bit to get it to sound like the 6505+.
I put some Eurotubes JJ low gain gold tips in mine and that really opened up the headroom on the clean channel. I'm sure QC is crap on these amps, I guess I lucked out.

Agreed. I didn't like it much at first because I was trying to put the settings almost the same as I do on the 6505+. Once I played with the knobs enough I finally got that sweet sound. I think most people that don't like this amp are not giving it enough time. This however does sound like a bad batch. I saw once or twice a month that it was going out of stock at musiciansfriend (sold out) and then coming back, I think that they are cranking these out too fast to keep up with the initial demand and I think that is why we are hearing more than normal amount of troubles from people on these. Mine works great however and sounds great and I'm really glad I got it now.
