Never been super into this band's music but this video is gorgeous. Also the red horn player's costume is terrifying. Overall giving me American Horror Story x Dead Can Dance vibes.

Great riffs, awesome composition, that's some good Ne Obliviscaris right there. I also really like that the bass is much more audible in the mix like their demo version if Forget Not.

I hope I never tire if this band.

Now that's a great song! Glad to see that they're coming to Finland in the spring. I think I see a trip to Tampere in my future...

They're not going to beat the quality of Portal Of I, but they're still better than 99.9% of the bands around, and maybe the best band that debuted in the past decade
I always feel bad for a band that puts out a perfect album the first or second time around because it's impossible to top it, but damn do they try and I gotta respect the effort. I like all their music but Portal of I is on another level.

Each album they put out has a few moments that make the jaw drop the first time around, with some nice catchy bits here or there you look forward to every time you listen. Portal of I is like, man, cancel all events for the day, everybody shut the fuck up and leave me alone, I'm listening to Portal of I. It's one of those albums I could seriously STUDY, not just listen to. Pretty rare thing for that to happen for me over the last couple decades.

I agree about the effort bit. I'm glad they're not just coasting on the fame of a single album like a lot of bands do. They're putting their all into making this music and it shows. Some artists lose track of the actual art side of music and start focusing too much on singles and cookie cutter song structures. This band at least has kept a hold of their artistic vision and tried to build upon it.

I suppose that it's about the time more than the craft.
Bands have all the time for the first records, then they get in the gear of the labels' business.

I think that what made me appreciate the records following Portal is Tim's voice, he changed a bit the way he uses it, and made it a bit more cheesy/commercial and less epic

I could dig this without the clean vocals. Nothing against clean vocals in general, but the "power metal" style - even if just slight hints of it - is extremely repulsive and cheap sounding to me.. same thing as with metalcore/emo screams. Just sounds fake, forced and trying too hard.

I'm surprised to hear this much negativity surrounding Tim's vocals. He's a defining part of this bands sound for me. I don't find it cheesy at all, on any album, but that's just me personally. I will admit I thought it was a girl when I first heard them though lol.

It's not that guy specifically for me at least. I just really can't stand theatrical leather-pants vocals. Tim sounds better than, say, Michael Kiske or that guy from Stratovarius, but still it's too much for me.

I, too hate it when Tim sings about Dragon Wizards and Winged Bismarcks...

These guys are touring near me later this year. I'm trying to get into these songs but I dunno. I guess I should listen to Portal of I?

I like all of their albums, but if anyone is looking for one that they can ease into I would recommend "Urn". There are some really cool songs on it that still keep their style but is a bit more straightforward.

Give these a try.
