His pick attack is so satisfying to hear. The lick at 5:34 on "The Oddfather" is one of the coolest I've heard in a while.

Really surprised by the album. Quite enjoyable. I did not like the title track at all so didn't have high hopes. Scotty Doesn't Know is my favourite song. Joking aside, Gemini and The Oddfather are fantastic.

I guess it really is the fate of all guitarist to resort to blues wankery as we age. RIP in peace to a real one. :(

Especially disappointing when you think how good a Gilmour impersonation JP is capable of with Spirit Carries On or Lines in the Sand.

Really good album overall. Didn't like the title track when it first came out, but I actually really like it now after hearing the album, I guess I just didn't know what to expect at first. The bassist did an amazing job too, and the mixing is awesome, the way the bass sits is just right. Some moments were a tad surprising though, I'm guessing John had watched Eurotrip recently, and maybe listened to a bit of Vai. Lots of DT moments too, there are tons of parts that would fit right in.

I have to admit after hearing the title track I wasn't expecting much,I was pleasantly surprised."Snake in my Boot" sounds like it could have been a Satriani/Vai collaboration, very fun romp.

I transcribed the whole album in a couple weeks, it was good timing since I was in between tab book projects.
