DT's last music video was a literal backyard BBQ lol. Wouldn't expect too much from the video itself.

Listening to the record now. I'm into it! So cool to finally hear a studio version of Gemini.

I think the album is great. The title track is the weakest one IMO so even if you weren't into the single I'd say the album is still worth a listen.

I’m one spin in and I like it!! I know the guitar was written prior to portnoy But I love and miss the way he “plays” with JP.

I'm listening to it, and so far the standout track has been "Gemini". When the track came in, it sounded like something I didn't expect out of Petrucci.

Also, there's Ola fanboying over John Petrucci. John is a skilled actor: he's good at pretending not remembering every song in his repertoire. You hear him talk, he'd convince you that he is mortal!

Funny enough, "Gemini" has been around since the 90's!

Oh, that one Rock Discipline lick. Explains why it sounded not like modern Petrucci: it wasn't. The acoustic guitar also was kind of a clue... The second half of the album kinda reminded me of Falling into Infinity/Clearing out the Closet era Petrucci in some aspects, but with his modern, cleaner, less gritty tone.

I just got it. And damn, the guitar sound(s) on this are just ear candy? Is this all the Mesa JP2C bar the flamenco and acoustic stuff? I could swear there is some Marshall sounding riffs in there on Snake In My Boot.

Stand out track for me is Glass-Eyed Zombies. The Portnoy-Petrucci interplay is awesome on those heavy riffs towards the end.

So the first minute and a half of "Out of The Blue" is just Tender Surrender, right?

I haven't listened to the whole thing yet but damn, I'm still picking up pieces of my jaw because it hit the floor so hard on The Oddfather. The album should've started with that!

Edit: first playthrough done. What a great album :)

I enjoyed listening to it, Petrucci is so identifiably himself and Portnoy and he bassist crush it too. The production is so DT it became a little played out at points - I like a record like Nick Cave’s Let Love In where there are different instrumentations or mixes. I really enjoyed Glassy-Eyed Zombies, where the playing is so smooth yet so technical and musical.

I’ve only listened once. While I don’t like it as much as SA I feel they complement each other very well. Last track is pretty much like a hybrid Bridges in the Sky/Jaws of Life/Build Me Up, Break Me Down.

Gemini was the standout track for me.

This was actually a "fun" listen some Satch like playful moments.
Plus a great reminder of JP's picking technique.
