So recently the other guitarist in my band got a broken 5150 212 combo in a trade, and I bought it off of her and got it repaired!

Pics!

This came to me in rough shape, I had to cut a new back panel:

Not a perfect cut, but functional!

I remember @MatrixClaw once mentioning this was his least favorite variant of the Peaveys, having read his preferences I can see why. This one is definitely brighter and has less. Of the chunky low end that the heads do. I like it qiite a bit, but it does well with darker guitars.

Next up, a new fiddle:

This is an Axe Palace special run that just finished, essentially it is JP16 shaped but with JP15 woods.

Simply put, I love this guitar. My biggest gripe with my old JP7 BFR was the tremolo, the un-needed piezo, and it was hella dark. This guitar is bright and snappy, no piezo, and come with the Floyd Rose Pro bridge. The finish is just a bonus, but it does look snazzy with the roasted flame maple neck.

Here's a little clip using them both!

Nice! Cool guitar. I remember seeing one of those combos at Sam Ash a few years ago. After watching James Brown’s episode of Tone Talk I kinda wished I’d bought it.

I'd be interested to see that, is it on YouTube? It's a sweet little amp, a bit tighter than the other variants I've played.

Nice! I think the 5150 Combo was my first tube amp, if I remember correctly. I remember when I sold that thing - someone in another state bought it. Packing it up was crazy and somehow FedEx lost it for like 2 weeks. I mean, how do you lose a box the size of a 4x12 that weighed twice as much as a 4x12?

I saw someone post one of those Music Mans on Facebook earlier. Looks awesome!

Ridiculous, that's some David Copperfield shit. It's definitely a monster, someone had installed wheels but they were beat, I put some new ones on there to at least move it around the house.

Might have been my guitar on Facebook if it was one of the groups, but I have started to see some other folks posting theirs too.

I’ve always wanted to convert one of these into a head. They are fantastic amps. Like someone else said, tonally they are in between an OG 5150 and a 5150 II.

105lbs for the 212 if i remember correctly. Biased differently as well maybe, but damned if I can remember.

Should sound pretty good.

Love that JP!

I had the 6505 2x12 combo a few years ago and it sounded killer. Mine had casters, thankfully. Can't imagine having to move a beast like that without them :ugh:
