I like the song, but yeah after what Chino's been saying about it (Stef having a bigger writing role, a lot heavier than Gore), I was expecting something much heavier. I'm wondering if they just chose one of the more accessible songs as a lead single.

The end of the songs is rad , I almost feel like this song would have been really cool if Steph would have jumped to the lower strings during the Chorus? or something to mix it up. Had to go back and preview Gore, lol yeah it's pretty forgettable.

Pretty sure the track before this has some lower 9 string riffing on it because the fade in on Ohms starts on a low C#. Maybe I'm just overthinking it though

Kind of a waste of a sweet video IMO. Not terrible, not any heavier than anything on Gore, not at all what I was expecting with the hype/talk leading up to it. The stoner-y riff is boring AF.

That was a song alright, definitely no chug-chug-dun so it doesn't sound like anything but a 6 string was used. Reminds me of a B side off of Gore which already felt like B sides of Palms. I really liked the first single off of Gore, Prayers/Triangles, but everything else was so mediocre it actually made me hate the album. Huge disappointment after Koi No Yokan and Diamond Eyes. We'll see about this one, really hoping they picked the most tepid song off of the album as a single, but I don't have high hopes since Diamond Eyes, Tempest, and Leathers slapped ass when they were released as singles.

This has me so excited. As stated before, Chino had said that Stef was going through some personal things during the last album's sessions, hence why he didn't participate more. This time around it sounds like every member of the band is excited about it and took part in the process. Plus Terry Date being involved.

Wake me up when September end, literally, because I just can't wait for the whole thing.

I found the song to be really underwhelming, and just not memorable. Usually, there’s something that hooks me, a drum part, a riff, a lyric that I just get stuck on and can’t get out of my head.

This song has nothing that stood out to me at all. 100% shocked to say that this is the first time I’ve ever heard a Deftones song that I didn’t like.

I gotta say, the more I listen to the track, the more it's growing on me. I also feel like it will translate better live.

Another thing to note is, its the closing track of the album. Looking back at every record they've done in the past, the closing track isn't super heavy. Heavy moments here and there but not a super aggressive song throughout. I personally love the song and feel like this is something fresh from Stef. Deftones records are never heavy from start to finish so I'm not sure why people assume every single needs to be heavy?

Maybe, but why work the "this gon' be heavy" hype leading up to it, then drop (IMO) a super mediocre track as the lead single.

^I hadn’t check out the track listing. The overall vibe makes a lot more sense as an album closer.

As far as hyping it as “heavy”, all (well most) things are relative, no?

I thought it was pretty heavy, relative to some other Deftones stuff. They've got a lot of washy ambient stuff with Chino moaning over it and no real riffs, this song was pretty riffy. I have a feeling you'll get some more aggressive parts in the full album though. Chino knows what heavy means.

Next single's gonna be one of the heavy songs, "Genesis."

    Aaaand I'm excited.

When I talked heavy, I was talking more like Rocket Skates, Here Comes the Butcher, Rapture, Hexagram, etc. When everyone goes all balls out.

Then again, Deftones is known for their diversity, so I shouldn't have been surprised.

He definitely wasn't putting that 9 string to use in Ohms, that's for sure.

I dig the song - Sounds like Deftones to me.

Low strings are cool but remember the top 6 are still pretty rad.

I really liked Gore and this sounds like it’ll just be as good, looking forward to it coming out.

My thoughts exactly. Gore didn’t do anything for me, I couldn’t get into it.

But at the same time, I guess it’s hard for me to top off Diamond Eyes, that album followed me through some difficult hardships and now will all the way to my grave.
