It's so good!
Picked the LP up and the Beacons LP box set. Plus it's royalty free day on Bandcamp
Got the blue and black vinyl, the Beacons box with the splattered vinyl, and the new shirt.
Ben Sharp made all of the money AND broke the internet today.
Aaaaand I went back to look and of course it's all sold out
I was gonna buy the box set, but i've come to face the fact i dont listen to my records. I will be getting a digital copy.
Last bandcamp day I bought his discography except for loops.
Nobody mentioned the Subsume remaster that also dropped yesterday.
I'd love to get a The Map Is Not The Territory re-release someday, with non-DFH drums and a better mix, but that's probably not gonna happen because he'd have to re-track all the guitars since he wasn't using DI's back then.
Oh yeah! The remaster is much tighter. Love it.
Enjoying it so far! \m/
Wow, I didn't expect this level of heaviness from Solitude. Ben you son of a bitch, you've done it again!
Yep, still awesome.
I enjoy the meme the guys in Pound made, if anyone caught it on the IG page.
I really need to schedule writing time, and then tracking time...
Many thanks for the heads up.
Cloudkicker kicks hard again!
I love these journeys with every release and I am especially happy that this time it's a little heavier again.
No problem! I'm with you on that.
I love the little sweep lick he threw in at the very end of Ashtabula. Who says Ben can't shred?
Ben could always shred
Awesome, been listening to Beacons again a lot at work lately, and I totally didn't expect to see this!
Finally giving it a proper listen - I'm really surprised how heavy he went with this. It's probably his heaviest release to date. I'm glad that even in 2020 you still never know what ol' Cloudkicker is gonna pull out of his bag of tricks.
I'm curious about the song titles, Ludendorffbrücke is a reference to the Battle of Remagen in WWII, Ashtabula is a town in Ohio where Ben is from, Banqiao is a dam and
Sandö a bridge that collapsed, "What they do is not art" is either a translation from something (possibly another WWII reference with the whole "degenerate art" thing) or a quote from Toby Flenderson from The Office. No idea what the others might be referencing.
Damn, as soon as I reached "Code Language" this was an insta-buy
Sidenote: I love the bandcamp model for selling music Not sure what it's like for artists but being able to buy FLAC (and sometimes for free in this case) is glorious
It's probably the easiest/most transparent place to sell music. You're dealing directly with your fanbase/customers and Bandcamp take a percentage for hosting!
The trade-off is you dont get paid for streams. Still, my preferred model of the ones available.
I think people forget that pre-drop-G becoming popular, Ben had some super heavy riffs on "the map is not the territory". Maybe Im just old now .
It definitely makes me want to write new music, but I have to overcome drum programming or finding someone who will do it for cheap. I can always count on cloudkicker albums for making me want to write .
Definitely. Ben has been in the bedroom recording game for a long time, too. I still don't think he gets all the credit he deserves. Super inspirational for me.
Shameless plug, but I do drum programming for clients around the world at reasonable rates!
