Need good vibes sent for my mom

    So my mother is a diabetic and she has recently been hospitalized cause of a infection in her foot. They have already removed part of her foot taking two toes. She got out of the hospital and now infection is continuing. So now their wanting to take her whole foot above the ankle! My mom is really the only family i have left that i can always count on. My grandparents died when i was in 4th and 5th grade and my father died when i was a senior in high school. So any good vibes, good thoughts, prayers would be appreciated very much! Cause i know if she ends up losing her foot she will go down health wise very quick. She wont be able to be active like she loves to be and she won't be able to tend her garden wich she loves to do.

    I'd like to stress however that with the current advancement in prosthetics, even if the worst case scenario comes where they'd have to the whole foot above the ankle, it shouldn't stop her from engaging in her favorite activities. It might take a bit of time to recover physically and maybe more to recover psychologically but that's where your role should be to try and help her go through this. So you guys try to be positive as much as possible!

    I also have Diabetes. I've had Type 1 for 36 years so the situation with your Mom hits very close to me. Stay strong for yourself and your Mom. Prayers and good vibes for the both of you.

    Yep. Prosthetics are so much better these days. Especially if it's only at the ankle (vs at the knee, which is a lot more complicated force-vector wise) I feel like there are good options to keep much of or all of her mobility.

    Goodest of vibes, man :wub: My roommate is close to blind in one eye from diabetes complications.

    My dad has type II diabetes. He's mostly blind in one eye and has like 20% vision on the other eye. It's a really sneaky disease and in my dad's case it's partly his fault as he followed every bit of advise doctors gave him too late.

    Thank you all!!! It means alot to me! She's at home with me going to try to keep her off her feet and see if we can get the infection gone. So hopefully the toes and the part of her foot they removed will be all the have to take off.

    Man good thoughts coming your way for sure! One of my coworker's is having the same problem with one of his legs and he might be loosing it from the knee down. It's taken a toll on him so I hope everything turns out alright.
