So, I got one of these. It's a harley benton BZ-5000 NT. I used to have a bass, but I sold it like a fool and regretted doing so ever since. So, what could be a better way to undo the mistake than buying a new bass. Well, buying a new 5 string bass!

    Thanks for looking guys. :)

It's amazing how great these look for the money. I have often been tempted, if only for eye candy. How does it sound? Was the set-up good out of the box?

I haven't had the time to play this yet, just a bit without an amp. The setup out of the box is... Well, playable. Not optimal, but not horrible either. I'll have to take a closer look, do a setup to my liking and play it a bit this weekend.

Got to say though, this feels a lot better than the 5 string ibanez, which my ex girlfriend bought back in the days. And this one is cheaper.

Well, it looks fantastic, so fingers crossed it plays and sounds great once you have it set up. Enjoy!

I actually did a bit of a setup while the kids were playing and even got to play it through an amp for a while... It sounds great and plays equally well! I am really happy with this one. I'll have to do some more adjusting, but it's completely playable for now.

It just weights a freaking ton compared to my guitars, but I was expecting that...

I was thinking of making this a project bass (hardware and electronics/pickup swap etc.), but I really don't see a reason to do anything like that yet. This sounds good and plays good, so... :)

I've always been curious about Ebonol. What is it, a plastic? How does it compare to real Ebony in terms of durability, feel, sound etc. I'm wondering about it's long term reliability. Wouldn't it just wear out faster than wood? These bass' look incredible for the money, for money several times it's cost really.

Ebonol is cellulose and black phenolic resin layered, if I understand correctly. I've read that it sounds quite a lot like ebony and it's a very strong material against wear of the strings. It's usually found on fretless basses... And that should tell something about it's resistance to wear and tear.

Supposedly it's eco friendly and easy to produce and all those attributes mentioned earlier combined with jet black look should make it a winner in my books :)

What!? They got 7 and 8 string fanned fret guitars for like $150. This is awesome. It seems to good to be true. Who has been enslaved to do this to make this possible? I'm gonna save for one of these bass's before they go away.

How do they shape up quality wise with say, Squier Vintage Modified/Classic Vibe series?
