    Hey guys!

I got a Laney IRT Studio this week so I thought I'd share some thoughts!

I already own an Ironheart 60 head which I quite like.
It sounds kinda like a cross between a Marshall and a Recto with some 5150 sprinkled on top.
I like all the tonal features such as the boost, dynamics and tone controls.
Those controls offer some serious tone shaping options!
I would recommend this amp to anyone who's looking for a solid and feature packed rock/metal amp.

It's actually a little shocking how cheap these amps are now over here in Holland.
The 60w head is only 606 euros right now!
I got the IRT Studio for 470 euros brand new.

I got the IRT Studio because I thought it would be a great feature to have in my studio.
A small rackmount compact full fledged tube amp that I can put on top of my Axe Fx III on my desk.
So anytime I want to record or reamp some quick parts I can just turn on this amp and I'm ready to go.
I now wish more companies made amps with similar features and also in a rack format.
I haven't done a direct comparison yet but I think it sounds very similar to the head.

Tested it out with my PRS SE277 semi-hollow soapbar.
The settings are all visible during the video.

Does anyone else here own one?
I'd love to know your thoughts!

I used to own one. Great amp for the studio. The issue I had with it was that it was noisy when I used my Pod HD500 via 4 cable method. It also got really hot and made me nervous keeping it in my rack. Also, when I got the Helix I felt it didn't sound any better than it so I decided to sell it. I would be willing to buy it again in the future and if I didn't own a Helix I probably would still have it. It is very versatile and it gets really tight metal tones.

Here is a demo I did using a backing track (posted on the AndySneap forum) for a Nevermore song. I reamped the guitar DIs

    Sounds great man!
    Nice and throaty!
One of the things I like about this amp is the mids.
This amp doesn't get lost in the mix easily, that's for sure!
    Thanks for sharing that clip!

Your videos/demos are top notch. Find myself reaching for you JS versions of many OH IR's. Thank you!
Oh and you may be to blame for me purchasing an IRT studio as well.

    Haha that's so awesome!
You won't regret getting an IRT, do let me know how you like it when you get it.
It's funny that you mention the JS mixes because I've been using those a lot recently.
Mostly because the tube amp's have a more natural, organic and compressed low end so there's a bit more room to play in that area.
Most modelers can get boomy in the low end quickly.
I designed the JS mixes to have a big low end with smooth highs and for some reason that works really well with some of my amps.

I dont even have any use for an Studio whatsoever, and you are still making me want one.

I used to have the Ironheart 120watt. Its sale helped fund my kemper.
I have missed it since. Its size and weight was the issue.

    The IRT studio solves that

Edit: I could pair it with my AX8 and use the studio live for tonez and full AX8 for everything as a plan B if it ever dies live.

    Hmmm

Is the excess heat of the thing going to be an issue if its inside a full band tour case? (16u)

Had mine for years with no issues mainly home use & jam sessions it does get very hot especially in Australian summers which did worry me but hasn't gone bang though could be scary in a rack . Very versatile decent clean tones & likes every pedal I own. I'm not really a metal player but anything from Satriani to Sabbath this works for me no problem. A big thumbs up from me especially for the price. Nice video dude would love to see this amp in another of your comparo's.

    Thanks!
I'm definitely planning on using it in more videos!
I'd like to compare it to the 60w head but also to some of my other low wattage amps.
    Should be fun!

Thank you so much! Mountain Goat Universe is my solo work. Unfortunately I'm a super slow writer and just finished my first solo song since then a few months ago. I've also written about an EP's worth of material with @Joshua that we're close to finishing up.

Yeah Guitarjon looking forward to more of your well put together videos & I also forgot to mention the one watt setting on the IRT Studio is great for low volume riffage especially in conjunction with the clean channel & a pedal or two. And yes I must apologise for hijacking your thread also but do check out Guitaardvarks album & if you are into prog/jazz fusion etc I would also check out this band>> https://themantleband.bandcamp.com/album/the-mantle So many talented bands around it is such a shame that the moronic mass's seem to be into premanufactured boy bands & female artists that can't sing without a vocoder etc.
