Snagged this thing off guitar center used today. Pretty sweet amp, seems to have a lower mid focus than my evh. Only had a little while to fiddle around with it, but so far im digging it. Sounds good and pissed off even at low volume. Came down to this or a mesa mark 4, but my first impression is that this one is a keeper.

My only minor gripes are the ding on the side of the amp and the effects loop has a pretty irritating hum when engaged atleast with all my pedals hooked up. Its easily solved by turning it off when not playing though. Otherwise a pretty happy Nad!

Ok, you really need to put the smaller amp on the bigger one, not the other way round! Please correct this immediately and repost that picture!

Such a sick amp. I’m really amazed they aren’t way more popular. HNAD.

Update... My clean channel stopped working. I assumed it was just a preamp tube. So i started swapping tubes. I didnt get through all of them before leaving for work. Does anyone know if guitar center will repair the thing if its not a tube problem or should i just return in? Just got it the other day and they have always accepted my returns without question.

I would try the tubes, and if that doesn't do it, I would return it. Usually issues like that are a dead tube though.

I have always been curious about these amps also. I do like the MT15 quite a bit, so I could see these being similar. They seem to have that "clear, tight, refined Recto" type of sound.

I loved my Archon. When I traded it, the guy started having issues similar to what you described. Tube swaps didn't help- had to get it repaired.

Well i tested preamp tubes, they did not fix it.. Bummer. The gain channel sounds really good however the annoying effects loop hum is a bummer for quietish playing so im thinking it may just go back. I may use the funds for one of those sexy black rgr652. Havent decided yet.

Also yes that is the 500 dollar jem jr. Got it as a suprise gift from my girlfriend. Was gonna do a ngd thread just havent gotten around to it. Its really a pretty nice guitar for what it is. No sharp fret ends and just one blemish on one of the horns. The stock pickups leave alot to be desired but thats expected. Really sweet clean tones with it coil tapped, probably the best clean guitar i have. Gonna put a black pickgaurd on it and probably a hotrod bridge pickup and call it good. Its not a guitar i would have picked myself but its grown on me and plays pretty nice. What a good girfriend i have!

Archon electronics are easy to repair due to his construction like hand welding, mine had problems like a year ago and a experienced guy repair it without knowing the amp, I didn't know if he finds the schematics on the web

The archon went back. Didnt want that amount of money tied up into something with problems especially for something only 2 or 3 years old. Just gonna buy a 5150/6505 and a ngd incoming.

I believe the early runs of these had effects loop problems? Even bigger shame about the clean channel issues, I do like the sound of these and they're not too expensive used.

The Archon is made in USA. It’s the MT15 that’s Chinese.

I almost bought a 50watt used awhile back at Guitar Center but I read about loop problems a lot from forums and it made me end up going for a dual rec multi watt instead.
