    Happy New(use) Amp Day:hbang:

So I just trade an old tube head for that 92' 5150 combo.
It sounds great and is a huge step up.
Any advice setting for a Merrow type of sound and Ola Englund ??

    signal:
    -Agile elite 727 with emg707
    -ibanez TS9DX

-Peavey 5150 combo Mk1 (sheffileld speakers 8 ohm each, pluged in 16 ohm)

-Mxr 10 bands Eq......in front? or fx loop ? or just don't use it?

Also I have a pair of V30 (but 16ohm each) can I switch the Sheffield for those???????????? or sould I sell theme and get 8ohm:scratch:

The angle 412 cab crate blue voodoo is also load with 2 v30 16ohm (in X pattern)

Sorry, no advice on getting the Merrow sound, but in my experience, I've had better results with the MXR 10 band EQ in the FX loop on any amp I've tried it on so far.

First of all, Happy New Amp Day!

If you have a pair of V30's that are 16ohm the only viable option is to wire them in parallel for 8ohm total load. If there is another internal location on the 5150 combo for 8ohm then that would work for you.

The MXR 10 Band should probably go in the loop as well.

I think both of the outs on my Peavey 5150 212 are 16 Ohms.

Open up the back of the 212 and see what speakers are in it. I believe they are 16 Ohms, but memory doesn't always function perfectly.

    Well I open it
And sheffeild are 8ohm each..plug in serie..so total load 16 ohm.
What if I plug internal my v30 in parallel so total load 8ohm ( is it so bad for the transfo?)

I have seen a post mentioning this:
    Internal 2x12....16 ohm
Internal speakers + cab (cab must be 16ohm)
    and
Ext cab only...8ohm (so that way I could use my v30 using this plug, but them im stock to 2x12)

    Right?!

I'm not sure if the 6505 combo is different, but it has an 8 ohm output running to the combo speakers and a 16 ohm output for an external cab. You can put your V30s in the combo at 16 ohms, but you'll have to either rewire the cable that's there with a male end on it or add a 1/4" jack to the cabinet for running to the 16 ohm jack.

Wire your vin30 to 8ohm and connect them to the external speaker Jack, this hits the 8ohm tap on the power tranny.

Or what you can do since your cab is 16ohm is plug it into the external jack and run all 6 speakers.the combo has a minimum of an 8 ohm load.
