My third build (7string) Spalted Maple / FF

Hey guys,

since we're all gear freaks, I want to share my latest build. Maybe you've already seen it on Facebook.
At first I just wanted to build a new body for a cheap "Infinitiy" 7 string.
But then I went with a complete build, because I wanted to try Fanned Frets.
This time its something between Skeversen and a Stinnet guitar.

Some specs:
Scale 25.5" - 27.5"
Top: Spalted Maple
Body: Ash
Neck: Wenge / Maple
Fretboard: Ziricote
Binding: White ABS
Pickups: Aftermath Set
Tuners: Hipshot Open Tuners

And finally:

It plays really great! The changeover to fanned frets was easier than expected. It sounds really huge with my Kemper. Next time I will chamber the body, because IMO its too heavy.
Next time I change the strings, I have to adjust the height of the PUs, because they are too low ATM.

Next build is already planned (4th picture).

The next design is cool, too. but personally i prefer a headless design with this body shape.
is it a strandberg body shape or did you alter it a little?

Its the same shape except for the cut out behind the bridge. I aligned it with the angle of the bridge. It wouldnt be necessary since I'm not using a tuner bridge, but I like it optically.

Good god. The Artinger headstock is perfect: it follow the FF dynamic, and 3+4 adds everything needed. Really cool (but I don't like ergo-style body shape)!

Your headstock variant is loads better than the BM one. Glad to see when people don't rip that one off. (this one reminds me of the one Stinnett did?)

And the Artinger/Strandy hybrid is looking nifty as well. When will you start that one?

The headstock is a rip off from this one:

I will start probably at autumn this year. I will move near my parents in summer where the workshop is. Makes the guitar building more efficient =)
Not sure how I will design the headstock to make it robust enough. Probably using carbon fiber again to reinforce it.

I think it'd be a touch better if you reversed that headstock. Throughout the rest of the guitar the leading edge is on the bass side (the bass horn is more forward, the bass frets are more forward). It seems like if you reversed the headstock that leading point would be on the bass side as well and it'd just click a bit more.

Cool design either way.

Yeah you're totally right. At the bass side of the headstock there should be 4 tuners and on the treble side only 3, and the "wave" at the end of the headstock should also be reversed. After you mentioned it, it cant be unseen

That is f**king beautiful! I love the headstock (even if it's Stinnett's design, it looks a thousand times better than a BM) and the fretboard and inlays! Even the 3D printed pickup baseplates! Man you did a great job, and I'm really looking forward to the next build. I love how the Artinger headstock looks, and for an ergo build it should be great, too.
