I've seen one or two threads here with guys building their 7-string versions of that Ibby 540 P-II.
Here's mine:
Since it has that pretty unique shape I fell in love with already 20 years ago (and a decent model pops up on the second-hand market on very rare occasions only) I had me built two partscasters (one with a JEM spice) that visually came out extremely well and both play really great:

Now for the actual 7-string build:
I started with the body provided by Nathan Perle (perleguitars001 at ebay). Poplar, H-H configuration and hardtail. I was actually opting for H-S configuration but it wasn't available:

I wanted a Schaller Hannes bridge since it's the most comfortable bridge on the market IMO, plus Bare Knuckle ceramic Black Hawk and Cobra.

Body got sent over to Mattias Malteby (Malteby custom guitars) in Sweden for modification and painting. After changing the PU configuration to H-S he applied the base coat. Here are the different stages of the paint being applied, the last one is the final design without the clear coat.

Actually, the idea was to copy the look of my favorite Vans Slip-Ons (no joke) with black/aqua checkers thus the fake white binding at the body edge.

This is the recent status.
Once I get the body back, Kraushaar Guitars, an excellent luthier in my vicinity will build the custom neck and do the overall assembly.

Will post updates here once there's progress.

Very cool, are the neck specs set yet?
Also, did your luthier build the necks on the first two as well?

The necks for the 6-strings were ebay purchases, too.
The neck specs for the 7-string I'm aiming for: 25.5'' 24 frets, ebony fretboard with aqua sharktooth inlays, reversed headstock Ibanez style of course.
I'm not sure about the profile yet, the original 540 PII (I own one) features an extremely wide and flat neck which I love but I'm not sure if this works well with a 7-string. I plan to leave him my original 6 and a Mayones Regius 7 which has an awesomly comfy neck as blueprint and hope he'll be able to create something reasonable from it. :)

Minor update:

Clear coating finally done. The guy who did the finish outsourced the body for clearcoating to some kind of "expert", who actually managed to .... that thing up without notifying the original guy. It took him months to get it back with the result that he had to fix and re-do stuff that the idiot ....ed up in the first place.
First picture shows the ....up, 2nd is already the the fixed and finished version.

Now, after a huge while, it's finished.
It's an awesome player as well, actually the whole project was intended to have an easy player for live purposes in the first place which matches the original 6-string as best as possible. Task solved. :)
@cristiancas You can get unfinished 540 PII bodies from Perle Guitars on ebay, he usually has lots of different versions up for sale.

Wow - I've never liked that shape but you have converted me. Guitars look great and love the black burst worn checker finish

That finish is amazing! Idk about the scuff marks, but overall I think it looks pretty stunning. Love that neck.

I think it's killer!

I ordered one of those bodies from Nate as well but I opted for an RG as this shape is just too small for my gigantism! hahah

Killer build man.
