Crowbar's Broken Glass or Odd Fellows Rest are both great. Neurosis's Through Silver and Blood.

    +1 for Dream Theater

Also a little of rock wouldn't do bad. Muse is a great choice. :yesway: Reign Of Kindo to fulfill the jazz/pop side of listening.

And why is the no Porcupine Tree in your list?

It's good that you did this thread since I think you're missing out. (Not in any offensive way!)

The Mars Volta - I'm really into them right now, I think there awesome maybe you will too, check'em out. Give them a chance, it took a few songs to work out what they were, the few youtube clips of them I saw here on ss.org didn't really do it for me, once I checked it out properly I loved it. Head over to youtube and try out a few songs, see if it is your kind of thing in any way, if so it will grow on you if you don't love it at first listen.

Bumblefoot - Insane guitarist, fun catchy songs, took a while to grow on me but now I cannot get enought of it.

Devin Townsend (and his band and project) - Lots of interesting sounds from this guy. He has a lot of material so I'm sure you will like something of his.

Jaga Jazzist - Heard about these from an interview with Tosin Abasi (Animals as Leaders guitarist - everyone on this form must know him or them by now, check them out if not, some glorious guitar playing). I'm so glad I checked them out, I can see why Tosin recomended them. It's jazz(name was a bit of a give away) but not like I had ever heard before, not sure what you would call it(my knowledge of jazz isn't as expansive as I would like) but its really very good.

Opeth - Great music, probably the heaviest music I listen to any more( gone off the heavier stuff lately).

I would have a load more to recommend, but I feel I've taken enough of any readers time already.

Oh sorry I wasn't clear. I listen to a ton of bands, several you guys listed. I was looking more for metal and things from the first bands I listed. I love Porcupine Tree, Dream Theater, The Mars Volta, and Muse. I wasn't going to list everything I already listen to. That'd take a while XD

Edit: I also listen to Cynic, so no need to recommend them

If you like Fleshgod, check out Hour of Penance. I think it is the drummers other band, but he did vocals as apposed to drums(he's only been playing for 2-3 years). Very Brutal and a bit more wall of sound than fleshgod. still great though.

So you're looking for album recommendations from the bands you listed?

Pink Floyd: Can't go wrong with Dark Side Of The Moon, Meddle, or Wish You Were Here. I feel that Pink Floyd brought something new with each album, so no need to worry about avoiding getting the best one first.

    King Crimson:
Court Of The Crimson King, Larks Tongues In Aspic, or Red for the 60's/70's era, Discipline for the early 80's era, or Thrak for the "Double Trio" era. Each era is very seperate in terms of style, (they were originally going to be a new band called Discipline when they started the 80's lineup), so it really depends on what you're after.

Obscura: Cosmogenesis is always a good place to start

Machine Head - Burn My Eyes and The Blackening
A Perfect Circle - First 2 albums really
    King Crimson - Red, Discipline
Children of Bodom - Pretty much anything up until and including Hate Crew Deathroll
Steely Dan - Can't By a Thrill, Aja
Periphery - they've released just the one album so you can't go wrong there
Pink Floyd - any album in between Dark Side Of The Moon and The Wall. Or something different: Piper at the Gates of Dawn
Eric Johnson - Ah Via Musicom and Tones
Cream - Wheels of Fire and Goodbye
