Hey guys, for anyone more knowledgeable than me, for metal (not djent) but metal in the vein of Sylosis, Byzantine, As I Lay Dying, Nuclear Earth. Which pickup set would you go for from what Motor City and Guitarmory offer?

Giving us a few bands tells us nothing about what you're looking for in a pickup, as we have zero idea how you play or what amp you're using, etc.

What are you looking for in a pickup? Do you like to drive the front end of your amp with a boost? If so, you might want a lower output pickup. If you like straight in, you might want it a little hotter. Are cleans in your repertoire? Do you need them pristine or you like a little crunch?

How much "squish" do you like? Do you want a darker pickup or a brighter tone? There are so many variables here.

Afwayu is a great choice for that kind of stuff.
Same with Polaris or foxbat from guitarmory. I'd lean foxbat of those options personally.

Didn’t mean to leave out details, just intended to kind of get quick opinions about better pickup set for that style.

Amp depends on what venue we are playing. I don’t have to use any boost pedals with my Purple Nightmare, Savage mk II, or Super Kraken. I typically prefer to run my set up where I don’t need any extra pedals. Pickups have to be articulate and clear, but not “ice picky”. There are some clean passages in our tracks but it’s mostly very high bpm riffs, the structure is a very tight with a lot of percussive riffs. 7 string tuned 1.5 steps down.

Thanks man, I’ll check in to them. I’ve never used either brand but I’m interested in them. So just wanted to get some opinions.

Based off of what you said above, I'd skip the afwayu. It's not super tight on the low end, the low end is relatively chunky and it can be a bit bright on the high end in the wrong guitar. I loved my afwayu for techy stuff but I also dial my amps in to counter the chunkier, slightly less responsive low end.

The Polaris is probably a much better option for what you want to do. It's a very tight/responsive pickup and the high end is relatively mellow and never got ice picky for me.
The foxbat is lower output and will feel brighter on the high end. It cleans up better, but it's more of a "jack of all trades" type pickup versus one better suited to tight and percussive riffage.
