Lots of JP love going on. I thought there would be more Universe/Jem guys.

What about the APEX's or K7's!

I don't think I've ever seen someone who doesn't post on this site play an Apex or K7. I've actually never even seen one in person.

    JP music man IMO

It's the only Sig guitar I would consider buying, and it has nothing to do with the fact JP plays them... they are awesome guitars

what about other gear? The humble 5150 amp would have to take the crown for that; I doubt 99% of metal kids in deathcore/hardcore bands could name a Van Halen song haha.

I've got a K-7, I've never met anyone outside of this site who is a seven string player, and never anyone who owns a K-7. Not that I'm suggesting that all K-7s are owned by ss.orgers, nothing of the sort, but they are a fairly rare guitar. Ibanez only sold them for a few years before replacing them with the Apex, which probably sold even less. I'd imagine a lot of them were bought by Korn fans, but from what I've seen on youtube, the majority seem to be owned by death metal or shredder types. I mainly do bad impressions of jazz fusion on mine! I'm not a Korn fan but when I saw the spec sheet I knew it was the guitar for me.

To reply to a comment someone made earlier in the thread, I'd own, or at least have considered owning an EBMM JP7 in the past. I'm not a Dream Theater or John Petrucci fan in the slightest. In fact, John's Ibanez guitars are some of my dream instruments, even though I don't enjoy his playing.

When you see a session guitarist at the Grammy's playing a EBMM JP I would have to say its become bigger than "the John Petrucci Signature model." I suppose session musicians can still be "fan boy's" but I doubt it.

Les Paul and Randy Rhoads obviously... I will not add Dime, as the popularity of his sig models is more due to his premature death and Dean's constant whoring of his name...besides, the Washburn Dime sigs were far superior instruments to the current Dean line.

I don't understand how you can add the JP model to this list at all. I have never seen anyone ever who doesn't like Petrucci, or even outside ss.org play one.

I have to agree with this, although I've seen bands outside of this forum play them... But they were only a handful of deathcore/djent bands.

If anything, the Universe was a bigger 7-string model, and I barely see people play them.

Here's one I'm surprised hasn't been mentioned yet... The Jackson Kelly.

Some others would be the EBMM Axis/EVH and the ESP George Lynch and Kirk Hammet models.

EDIT: Forgot about basses... The Fender Marcus Miller, Geddy Lee, Roscoe Beck, and Urge basses seemed popular.

The Les Paul is the overwhelming #1. I'd think that the Gretsch Chet Atkins- been out since the mid-50s with quite a few variations- has got to be a good candidate for #2. After that, it's hard to say, though Rhoads V, by virtue of tenure on the market might be #3. We're not counting the RG as a version of JEM (as I've seen in places), right?

I play BC Rich V's and Warlocks, but I avoid the Kerry King sigs just because I hate the "tribal" graphics.

The only time his graphocs look good are on his signature Marshall Head and Cab. They look sick as fack.
