Hey sso. Any suggestions for a barebones iphone app that'll let me play a song file and record a vocal track to it and export the vocal track?

My vocalist is computerless for the time being and im trying to hook em up with a simple way to record some vocal scratch tracks that she can thensend over to me to play with in my daw.

Garage Band is probably the most bare bones, whereas Cubasis is a pretty full fledged DAW.

I've used Voice Memos to record demo vocal lines or riffs when I'm away from my recording setup, which I then send to myself later.

I'm just not sure I'd really want to use something recorded on an iPhone mic, is this just for hashing out ideas?

Yeah I would use GarageBand as it allows you to have several tracks, etc. I was able to buy a cheap usb to lightning adapter for my usb condenser and it’ it works great!

Might be worth looking at n-track. I used it for a while on my iPad when my laptop died, it's a bit barebones but it's a full DAW and it runs on iPhone too. You might need to subscribe for a month to get all the features, but it was like 70p or something.

Just in the process of doing overdubs on a new vocal album and ALL the demo vocals were cut on an iPhone using voice memos. In turn I brought the into Pro Tools and used the Empirical Labs Distressor plug-in and they sound like a million bucks. Makes for a SUPER easy work flow. Send a two track mix to the vocalist, have them play that back on their computer using phones/ear buds, and sing into the phone. AMAZING results, the Distressor being the magic ingredient to make it sound amazing:)
