Kind of a weird show format, but it they're going to be doing DI & amp modelling, it shouldn't be crazy to imagine them going state-of-the-art. (James could have totes borrowed my Zoom GM2000, though.) I bet Fractal is ....ing thrilled.

Not really surprised of the format considering the location... I would expect most of the amps to have a bunch of issues come up being delivered to such a harsh environment. AxeFXII FTW! :hbang:

I would take my headphones off to hear how they sound acoustically. That would be funny to hear me thinks.

I'm not someone who thinks Lars sucks -- I think he is the perfect drummer for Metallica, and I actually like his drumming on their classic stuff -- but I'm going to bet that any professionally produced live Metallica CD/DVD has some serious drum overdubs going on. Lars is a bit loose and sloppy live, yet in the DVDs, he's flawless.

I wouldnt be surprised if this was a one-off,etc as no way i can see Kirk not using the Randall amp being built for him

I agree that not always double bass-ing and having that groove is what gives them their sound.

People say the same thing about Cannibal Corpse. I always read things where people say they need to get some younger blastbeat beast player... but NOT doing that is why they still sound unique in today's world of crazy drumming...

Apparently some of you can't read or understand what they are saying... It's for ONE show only, not replacing their gear full-time rigs...jesus

I think it is a cool and unique idea. Publicity stunt? Maybe, but who really gives a f? What I hate is the fact that everytime a Metallica thread shows up instead staying on topic it always leads to a "Metallica wants money" or "Lars sucks."

So over that. Go make your own sh*t talking threads for that and allow those who are actually interested in the topic read the posts without sifting through the bull sh*t.

    It's because they tone-captured their standard-liverigs.

(I also think that the sound is utter crap in the vid, i have no idea if it's close/the same/ not at all like their live sound nowadays)
