    Hi all,

I've got an Ibanez RG721FM and I'm looking to re-fit the stock pickups. Unfortunately the CAP-VM's aren't doing it tone wise and I need something with a bit more bite and chunk.

The guitar is a basswood body and rosewood neck. It is set to Drop B and runs into a Peavey 6505+ and Mesa 4X12 cab.

The sound I'm looking to base around is between Killswitch Engage and Bring Me The Horizon. A bridge pickup that's great for lead work but can hold a breakdown together, and a neck pickup that songs for solos would be great.

I'm open to all brands and actives. Any help on my problem would be great.

    Thanks!

i reckon the d-activator/liquifire combo works really well in basswood 6 and 7's.

the nazgul/sentient combo is great in basswood as well, though i end up cutting a bit more bass on my amp settings compared to the d-activator.

I'd just go for EMG's man.
Jona Weinhofen, Adam D and joel strotzel all use EMG's. Adam and Joel use the 81 in the bridge and Jona uses the 85.

Pretty much this. Stock 81 or 85 in the bridge are the crème de la crème for metalcore.

Agreeing with most here in saying that Metalcore tones are most easily achieved with an EMG 81 in the bridge and an 85 in the neck.

If you want to stay passive I'd go for a Duncan Distortion set.
