Ummm, I don't know if the power amps are anything like the Rectifier heads, but anything below 25% on the master output sounds like complete ass on my head. For those who have never played a rectifier, 25% on the master output is enough to play with a drummer... My common sense says don't do it. For home use, I would do one of 3. 1. Run the preamp into the cab, some preamps are actually loud enough for it to sound ok. 2. Get any cheap solid state power amp to run into the cab, at low volumes it makes no difference as the speaker isn't even moving in the first place. 3. Run the preamp into an impulse through an interface or two notes torpedo into monitors. I often find that this is the ideal setup for home use as you get real tube tone with fully adjustable volume at solid saturation levels.
