Is there any suggestion that Ellefson groomed anyone?

Dave sacked him because he was worried about the cumstaine on their reputation, but I haven't seen any evidence that Ellefson did anything criminal.

So much for "waiting for all the facts to come out," eh, Mustaine? Dave has turned into such a pussy in his old age. What happened to the guy who didn't give a fuck? Now he caves every time his record company tells him to. He folds like a cheap suit every single time. I used to look up to Dave, but now he can go fuck himself.

Lots of emotions and a wide range of thoughts in this thread.

To bring it all together, here's the good news:

In a couple years, Mustaine will release, "'Till Deth Do Us Part" where he'll talk about retiring with Megadeth and Ellefson's ouster, and Ellefson will release, "Being Jr." where he'll talk about his final years with Megadeth. And then we'll read all the "inside" drama from both sides.

If you think you're doing it privately on camera on anything other than CCTV with no internet access you've already fucked up. Don't show your dick to people on the internet unless you're cool with the whole internet seeing your dick. It's common sense.

I didn't say there was - I'm referring to the accusation. Anyway, yes he didn't technically do anything *criminal* but morality doesn't start and end at legality. He sent sexually explicit videos to someone almost young enough to be his granddaughter. I expound on the ethical issues in the other thread.

This. Or to at least existing, trustworthy partners. And with suitable security/encryption/whatever. Otherwise you're playing with fire, especially if you're famous.

I'm gonna throw a few new dogs into the fight and say I'd love Newstead to replace Ellefson, I think it would fit really well. Also, Mustaine sucks but Tornado of Souls is actually a good vocal performance in my opinion. He's got his style and the whole band peaked on that track. That's not to say there's a lot of people that could do better but I really do enjoy his vocals on the song.

To me his vocals (because that's clearly not singing :D) are one of the more recognizable elements of the band. The raspy touch that also suits his whole image so well. But live it's just an incoherent mumble and rumble. And that's what bothers me a bit. But I am here for the riffs so that quickly disappears. I tune him out :D

Megadeth hasn't made a good album since Countdown to Extinction. I doubt a new bassist will save that.

Mustaine's vocals have always sounded goofy. It's kinda what made them so interesting in the first place... but I'd never in a million years call it singing

That being said I'd take Megadeth over Metallica any day, and Exodus over both of them

    Porn sells, but who's buying?

@Spaced Out Ace it's the Gibson deal...? Just speculating... haha... MegaDave lost me long ago, although latest albums are OKish I guess... it must be Kiko...

Why would anyone risk their tour cycle/bad press because an associate made a complete ass out of themselves (best case scenario)?

I don’t get expecting a paid musician to act like their image. It’s just that - an image.

I feel like, as long as the "grooming" accusations are not proven true, this would have 99% gone away on it's own within the next month.

I knew Dave was going to fire Ellefson. Just doesn't reflect well on the band when one of the members has flopped out the old fella and given it the 5 knuckle shuffle over the internet.
Remember Winger went down the gurgler because of Beavis and Butthead making fun of them back in the day. If a metal band isn't perceived as cool or there's a threat to their image - then that has a huge follow on affect with their following.

Metal and rock are dead; they aren't "cool" anymore. Hasn't for about 20+ years.

Being fired from a rock band because being unfaithful. That's not very rock n'roll.
