I'll see em for sure but wish they would play their old stuff too.. Crack the Skye sounds like a lot of recycled riffs from all their prior albums

Maybe if they promised to play "Remission" in it's entirety I'd get excited

I have the hugest boner for this tour. If all goes according to plan I will pick up my tickets for the Friday 24 Calgary show and the Saturday 25 Edmonton show. It's gonna be the Best. Weekend. Ever.

i think they're going to play more than just Crack The Skye. if the album is 50-60 mins, i'm guessing they play 90 mins and play a regular set for the last 40 mins? guess we'll see. can't wait either way

i havent listen to any of cts yet, except for the backround music on their site. i feel like it will wreck the experience for me when i can listen to the released cd. i have really high hopes for the album especially now that they're planning on playing the whole thing at the shows. it makes me think that they're really proud of this one. really i think they can do no wrong. my 2cents...

Mastodon always puts on a great show and that's without a whole stage show. This tour sounds so fucking epic. I must go. I wonder how they're going to do the stage show here though because the venue (Hawthorne Theatre) is pretty small.

It's a pretty special record man. Don't pay any attention to these guys that only want to hear remission. Some people just aren't ready when a band takes any kind of a leap forward. Mastodon have progressed incredibly as a band on this one. More depth to the song writing, more interesting parts, just more original in general.

This ^ It may be more prog and not so riffy as Remission, but its a different animal, one that you can still really appreciate. And there are some sick riffs in there anyway.

Crack the Skye is probably my vote for album of the year, but the Remission stuff is just better suited to the live environment, its heavier and more compact, meaning they can chop their setlist up, whereas "Crack the Skye" and the "The last Baron" together are 25 minutes long, and for some bands thats a 3rd of a set. Not being "ready" for a band to progress has nothing to do with it.
