Hi guys, I would like some input from you..

Basically, I've realized that I need a clean channel. As much as I love the tone of my Laney Gh100Ti with a 4x12" V30 loaded orange, it just doesn't serve my practical needs when gigging. I bought the amp at a time where my band and I played stoner/doom in drop C# standard and clean wasn't something we used. However, we have evolved into more "sabbath/the sword/metallica/70's stoner prog rock" inspired band... I am basically looking for something British /vintage gain sound, so probably marshallish. So far I have been looking at the jcm 800 2210, jcm 900 dual reverb ( I know this gets a lot of hate) and the old jcm 2000dsl.

I know there are many jcm 800 knockoffs for a decent priced used, but many of them don't have that 2nd channel which I need.

I don't need anything fancy, just 2 channels with decent British gain. The crowd is hopefully too drunk or stoned to notice anything anyway.

    You guys got any ideas?

VH100R. Sounds like the GH, but with a 2nd channel that can be tweaked to be clean.

Engl fireball? They handle downtunings very well and have a decent clean, used isn't even pricey. Also Randall t2 would be a good coice, more rude tone. Dunno How laneys sound so i can't compare..

Not really the sound he's looking for.

I used to play Engl some while back. They sound good, but it is not really what I am looking for. But thanks for the input.

The Vh100r could be an option. I'll have to look out on the 2nd hand marked. Since I live in Denmark, there aren't many choices.

I will second the VH 100R.
    Got one, it's amazing.
Check out the German eBay or ebay-kleinanzeigen.de, there should be a few available.

I once thought about selling mine after not havong played it in months, then I got back into rehearsal space, plugged in and it was like falling in love.

    Edit:
It's basically a 4 channel amp where you have two channels and you can engage a second gain stage for each of them.
    All footswitchable!

The new 100 watt DSL sounds like it would be a good fit. Cheap, reliable, great tone.

I am also looking at this? Have you tried it against the old jcm dsl 2000?

No, I haven't, but I know some guys who have, and everyone seems to agree that the newer DSLs sound at least as good, if not better, then the old ones. I also keep seeing people say that the new ones are more consistent with better reliability and better reverb.

The DSL would definitely be a good choice if you want something classic British sounding. Won't sound EXACTLY like an old JCM or Plexi, but it'll get close.

You can also try a JCM900 SLX or MKIII, but I don't think they have the best clean channels.

I apologize for not obviously stressing that my budget is tight. If money was no issues I'd pick a rockerverb or Splawn Nitro

    ^quote above for truth.

The VH100 will give you exactly what you're looking for. I love my VH100 and won't be w/o her EVER.

    There's only 1 thing that the VH100 can't do.

    Sound bad.

I am gonna necrobump my thread here.

After some research, I discovered the Randall Diavlo 100W and the Jet City 100HDM. Do any of you guys have experience with them(reliability, tone-wise). People seem quite happy with them, and I have found some decent clips of them. I am, however a little scared of the "made in China"

The jet citys are a budget version of the soldano slo. They sound preety good for the price imo.

The Randall is fantastic as well, the cleans are gorgeous.

Check out a Randall thrasher as well, probably one of the best cleans on a "metal" amp.
