I read he had a Coliseum with 6 6l6's. Is that what you've got?

Just any ole pickup can nail that tone? That seems just a tad hyperbolic :lalala:

Nah I only have a 60w Black Dot with the ++ mod. And you'd be verrrrry surprised at how close it can get to that classic Bad Boys/Still of the Night tone.
    case in point:

498T or Duncan Custom (or Distortion if you don't mind a bit of fizziness)
Alt-8 is also very good in mahogany guitars

I don't think you'd notice much difference putting a 59 in the neck like somebody suggested. Jazz and Sentient are the best duncan neck pickups under high gain IMO

I love the 498T in my SG. Back to back with the burstbucker 3, it is a bit fatter and middy. Has more gain but retains that paf sparkle uptop.

Yeah Im leaning towards a custom I like the eq. You really think I could get away not replacing my neck burstbucker 2 and just replace the bridge with a Custom? Wouldnt that be an unbalanced pair? Im looking at the 59 or Jazz for the neck.

That and the '57 classic are my favourite Gibson pus

59 is a straight up PAF imitation pickup so there would be very little difference. Custom on the other hand is a hotrodded PAF. Jazz is an awesome pickup, I haven't tried it with a custom but it pairs well with a custom 5 in one of my 'hog guitars. Where the '59 is a bit bassy and "wooly", the jazz is tighter and drier

edit: you can also always adjust the height to volume match
