Sadly yes, the cavity needs to be re-routed to the size of EMG 7 string pickups.

How do you have it wired and with what pot ?

No clue about the pot, probably 250k? How high up do you keep your pickups?

You can get a LACE Deathbucker which is normal passive sized. The LACE DeathBAR which is reviewed here is the EMG sized replacement.

Check and see if it's 250k, Lace recommends using 250k.

I keep the pickup extremely close to the strings, just low enough that I don't hit them while palm muting.

The Deathbucker is only for 6 strings. If you want Deathbar in a RGD2127, you'll need to route, I wouldn't do that...

    +1

If you already have a guitar with EMG sized routes, then go for it! I really hate that EMG still makes their 7 strings pickups extremely huge making everyone else deal with the results of it.
