OK SSO friends, it's the new year, so time for a new thread.

Recap: My name is Andrew Knight, I'm a former Army satellite network coordinator; now currently a university student and luthier. I've been building/repairing/modifying guitars since 2002. I'm currently running a small business offering custom builds, repairs, setups, and so forth here in Tampa.

I've currently got 4 stock builds going- a padauk/wenge multiscale 8 (Voyager MS8), pearl purple 7 (Voyager 7), sapele/maple V-inspired 6 (Pulsar), and a maple Voyager 6 of undecided color. For those (hopefully) interested, I am accepting orders with no wait and a 3-4 month build time.

So, back to work!

The 8's neck is mostly complete- just need to get it fretted, glue it in, blend the heel.

The Pulsar was originally meant to be surf green, but I found myself regretting the choice to cover the nicely ribboned sapele:

Thanks for taking a look!

OK SSO friends, I just got in from a nicely productive day. I'm working on a new design for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation's Songwriters in the Round event in March. Some of you might know that I did this very same event last year-I ended up donating my personal padauk Voyager MS6 as the invitation was on somewhat short notice and I didn't have anything else in the chute at that point. Fast forward to now...there's plenty of time to prepare, and prepare I have! Given that this event is based around Nashville songwriters telling tales and singing songs, there's a decidedly country flavor to the affair. With that in mind, I'm doing my take on the venerable Tele-with details that Mr. F may or may not approve of....

So let's get to the build!

This is going to be a good one, I can already feel it.

Thank you!

Getting the headstock sorted, making the pickguard and finishing the main woodwork on the body:

I picked up a bit of nicely figured sapele and immediately put it to use:

Same sapele, this'll be a Voyager 7:

mmm teles... also really happy you got rid of the surf green on the v, would have been criminal to cover up that nice sapele.

Mmmmultiscale teles ;) I'm thinking BKP Cobra/Cobra T in the sapele one...what do you think?

I agree with you on the V...as much as I love surf green, it just wasn't right to cover up the natural look. I need to buy more boring wood, I guess.

Oh! Man, I should have asked you first. How do you feel about doing something cool and modern on a Tele plate?

Really enjoyed reading this! More updates please. Love the wood choices, especially that little flash of padauk on the 8 string neck.

Thank you!

Short and sweet today- main carve done, neck is set!

Tomorrow, I'll have the neck and heel blended together, then I can start the final sanding process.

Unclamped. Everything is nice and solid, so on to sketching out the heel carve.

While my bolt-ons offer just as much easy fret access, a blended set-neck just makes it that much more comfortable (and stylish, IMO).

Thanks guys!

@MoonJelly- I'd be more than happy to work with you! Has anything specific caught your eye?

Quick update this morning before I head into the shop:

Sorta considering a tortoise pickguard for this one....I'll probably end up with basic black, but wanted to get opinions from you guys:

Pulsar oiled up:

Frets in and neck glued on the multi 8:

Gonna get the neck/heel blend going on this one today.
