I think the coolest parts of his builds are how he attaches the neck to the body tbh. Lots of other cool engineering/design tweaks too but that's prob my favorite aspect.

I browsed a listing that was at least $40k. I am a big fan of his work (I own 2 Parkers), but at such a substantial entry point I don't care to look into them.

I believe they start around $25k now. The sky is pretty much the limit. I think he's only building five a year now.

Yeah if you look up one of the first luthiers mentioned there’s an amazing piece of art where a beehive grew on the soundboard of an acoustic guitar

At those prices I would lean towards Alchemist, by virtue of transforming wood into gold.

Which is a bargain if you consider that you can't get in a Monteleone for even double that amount ("cheapest I've seen has been $80k).

A friend of mine has been very close with Ken since the 70s, and maintains his website. I didn't move back to NY in time to try out of one these guitars (he had Olive for a long while), but I don't think there is anyone making acoustic archtops with the level of detail and innovation Ken is. Even master builders like Bryant Trenier and Chris Mirabella aren't sharing the same wavelength as Ken. Alchemist, wizard, Eru, whatever it is, he's incredible.

Considering some of the construction methodologies, materials used, he handles some of the Metalurgy himself, I can understand why these are so expensive.

    that neck joint though...

He keeps saying he wants to do a fan fret he’s just waiting for someone to order it, in his wood bending lesson he’s also using wood from ‘the tree’

I like the innovation, but those kinds of prices are what bumped me into luthiery.
