My most recent acquisition, ESP KH-2 Kirk Hammett sig. Not sure of year (might be around the 2008 mark). Very clean with only a few superficial marks that only a black guitar can highlight. Build quality is great as you'd expect of an ESP MIJ model. Really love the neck carve on this...not Original Ibanez Wizard thin but certainly in the ballpark...very slim and shreddy. Fretwork is also expertly done...no sharp of poorly finished edges here. I haven't had too much time on it (I have terrible CTS) so went straight for the high gain stuff and the EMG's have plenty of that...think it's a 60/85 set....raucous!!! They scream in this alder bodied guitar, can get lots of 80's shred tones and plenty of low end filth when you crank them a bit more.
A very well executed guitar. Two things I don't like:
1: It's black! I find flat black guitars rather uninspiring to look at.
2: Those inlays.....
Pretty tacky imho. The rosewood board on this has actually got a very nice grain and this guitar would have been so much classier looking if the board had been left blank.
If the guitar ends up being a keeper I may get it refinished in something Loud and Sparkly. Thanks for checking it out! I'm off to put even more fingerprints all over the finish. ;-)
