If you just put the ball ends up at the tuners and cut the string at the bridge, there is no need for winding to slow you down though....

nah... it's for speed mostly... convenience. if you put the ball end in at the tuner... that's alot of windings on the peg... if you don't do it evenly...

Honestly, when setting up a Floyd some extra turns on the peg is like 0,00001% of total restring time . I do the twist thing which is even slower (but makes up for less turns and a tidier look with regular tuning pegs).

Anybody have inside info when Charvel is gonna drop new stuff?
I've been in the market recently for a DK24, can't decide what PUP configuration though. I'd like to wait for some other color options if possible, though.

Jackson Fusion SS Made in Japan. Neckplate serial starts with 93, found some info that this model was only made in 92(?) Love the neck, frets are in good shape. bridge pup is OK, but I already bought a duncan distortion for it and gonna play it in E/Eb. \,,/
