Bought two 5 string basses from opposite ends of the Ibanez EHB lineup - 1505MS and 1005SMS. Couldn’t decide which to keep as they were both killer, so I put them both up for sale. The short scale stuck around, just waiting for the Nordstrands I ordered to arrive and I’ll be set.
My wife also spoiled me with a Solar AB1.7 Artist (black open pore ash) I’d been daydreaming about. Don’t know that I’d have kept it if it wasn’t special - but it does play great (really dig the Lundgrens I put in it as well) and is a rather unique addition to my modest little collection.
This year, I got my Ormsby Shark that I pre-ordered last year. This year, I pre-ordered my Agile 10-string that I'll get next year.
The only thing I've actually bought, and got this year, was a new interface (Komplete Audio 6) and a midi controller (Komplete Kontrol s88). ...and a shit-tonne of Native Instruments VSTs. Unless you can also count the refrets on my Ibanez RG2228 and Ibanez 8-string classical?
Out of those, I sold one thing and bought three, the rest were trades. I'm not big on buying new stuff these days. The only new piece on the list is the Audient.
Still waiting on a telecaster build a local luthier is doing for me. We've already got the BKP pickup that's going in it as wel as the CTS electronics, ash body blank, sycamore top and hipshot hardware. I'm not expecting that to be done this year though.
Customized MI Audio Megalith- Best purchase I got from these forums c/o Bearitone. Just a BEAST of an amp. Definitely a keeper, unless MI Audio comes with something better.
Mesa Boogie Mark IVB- Another keeper. Sounds more aggressive and gained out than my previous IVA.
Fractal Audio FM9- Won't be needing any other modelers anytime soon. This does it all.
EVH 5150III Stealth 50w- A wonderful amp. Blue Channel is the golden ticket. Will spring for a 100w version soon.
Peavey 5150 II - Took advantage of the rising value of these amps and sold it. Wasn't playing her that much, anyway.
Genz-Benz G-Flex 2x12- Getting an oversized 4x12 soon, so this had to go.
Amp1 Bluguitar Iridium- Sounds tiny in a band mix.
Fractal Audio AX8- Love the dedicated amp knobs. Just doesn't hold a candle to the Fractal FM9.
Guitar lineup is unchanged. Nothing bought and sold.
Mesa Powerhouse 4x10
Junky old project guitar that was an LP II-Special body with a random neck on it
A part of me is always sad when an amp goes, 'cause I'm still holding onto that "real amp" stubbornness, but the FM3 really did make the DSL feel redundant. I'll never sell my Mesas but it's hard to deny the amount of ground covered by modellers now.
Kiesel Zeus 6-string multiscale
Kiesel Aries neck-thru
Kiesel headless Delos rainbow sparkle
Boss Katana Air (incoming for Christmas)
Goals for 2022
- Probably will sell the Zeus (beautiful and amazing but the multiscale not for me) and make the Aries my drop C guitar
- fix my dead 22nd fret on my Charvel ProMod DK24 and it may still be out the door
- Hopefully only buy 1-2 more guitars; thinking about Kiesel Crescent custom build or if a nice Osiris or even Mayones/Skervesen pops up on Reverb
- practice more to justify this stupidity
