Upgrade it all you like. It's the build quality that will make it or break it.

    Scale length is 26.5
There’s no difference, it’s cooked maple, moisture is mostly removed, makes the neck golden brown and very very smooth, also cooking the moisture out improves stability and reduces potential of fret spout.

    It’s a genuinely sick guitar!!

    Thanks for the intel!

I’m all down for cooked wood, just confused on caramelized vs. roasted vs. cooked vs. s-tech. I guess it is all just marketing for the same idea.

:imnew:If I want to swap the plastic nut to a tusq nut, which one would fit it :O? The nut width on the HT7 is 44.45mm, and the preslotted 44.45mm nuts at graphtech are 6 string nuts.. or would it have to be custom made from a blank :O?

I'm super into that orange one. I'm super NOT interested in the blue and brown look, so the other one isn't for me.

Quick slightly off topic question: Is maple more expensive than rosewood/jatoba/etc? I ask because I see loads of mid and low range guitars with those brown woods on the FBs, but I rarely hear people specifically asking for them. Maybe it's just tradition? I'm just surprised we don't see more maple. I know ebony is more expensive, but I figured maple was cheap enough.

I've always wondered that myself. Rosewood is harvested halfway across the world, has a bunch of logistics to get it to the states, and then there is CITES. Whereas Maple seems to come from...Michigan or something.

My guess is tradition and aesthetics. Baked maple looks nice, imo, but it looks different. Smoother, different streaking, whatever.

I like the looks of rosewood over maple, at least in most cases. I have a couple guitars that look real nice with the naked maple.

My guess, though, is that people just dislike change. Rosewood is what has been used forever. Maple allegedly sounds different. A lot of the same reasons people will eat an up charge to get ebony instead of rosewood.

I hate to sevenstring.org all over this innocent thread but god damn I wish they had stainless steel frets.

Saying that though, if the quality is there they are a great guitar regardless.

Are we pretending like anyone here is going to gig one of these frequently enough and hold onto them long enough where having nickel fretwire will ever become an issue?

The roasted maple on my Charvel GG has completely ruined any other neck/fretboard material for me. I'm glad to see wider adoption of this method for guitars.

Not a bargain. If you like neon colours, for the same price I'd personally get this instead:

Nicer shape, especially the headstock and from hear-say the quality control on Solar guitars seems to be good. Jacksons in that price range have been so-so in the past years, don't know if they have improved.

For the record, cooked wood tastes savory, caramelized tastes sweet, roasted tastes nutty, and s-tech tastes like soy sauce.

True, but maple has been used on fretboards for decades, too. It’s hard to picture a strat or tele withOUT a maple FB. And while rosewood can look good, I can’t imagine that it’s worth the effort, as people have said here. For instance, I don’t know anyone that says they hate maple. But loads of (losers like me) hate rosewood.
